First off, while this DOES have a hefty amount of game music specifically, it's not limited to that alone. Since there isn't any general soundtrack download forum, (that I could find anyways) I opted to post it here as the majority of this is game music.

Anyways, I believe this would be a good place to post the archive I helped put together of BioMediaProject. Included within this rather large update, is music from Bionicle games, movies, flash videos and even podcasts from BionicleStory.com

Enjoy everyone! Help keep the legend alive! :)

NOTE: Contrary to the list I put together, Bionicle Heroes (Console) is NOT included in this release, but can be uploaded here, separately upon request.

This is incredible! And you even have both of the Mata Nui Online soundtracks available. Much thanks. =]

Don't thank me specifically. I was only a part of the contribution. The majority of the content came from Auron with varying other sources adding on to it, myself included. There's a full list of credits in a text file within. :)

Nice work! I've seen you around in other places like BZP.

Fun fact - I think that the MNOLG soundtracks and Flash animation soundtracks were provided to the BMP by me, as well as The Legend Reborn soundtrack.

EDIT: I've found something terrifying (to me, at least). I was surprised to find that the music collection was a whopping 2.2 gigs, but downloaded nontheless. I found to my horror that nearly all of the files were converted to 320kbps, when a lot of the material I provided was in 128kbps (the audio source was low-quality to begin with, plus I had no idea what I was doing at the time. This was about four years ago).

Please send word back to the BMP for me to avoid this in the future (even though I'm technically a staff member there).

There should be a link on the page. Two in fact. :P

You still see me on BZPower? I've been banned there for years. O_o

Actually some of that was my doing. While some of the MNOLG tracks you provided and the TLR score are still there, your rips of the flash episodes were kinda really a little bad, so I re-ripped them all from scratch. I updated the credits list in the root directory to reflect any changes made. You're still on it, but you're just credited for a bit less now. :P

It's Auron's idea to rip everything at 320kbps, but I convinced him that it was unnecessary for already low quality sounds like the GBA soundtracks. ...That being said, when I made my rips, I kinda forgot to change my Audacity settings. xD
The archive was originally 1.7gb at 1.9.0 before I made my additions and updates. The current DEV version with the addition of Bionicle Heroes (Console) is just under 3gb.

EDIT: Perhaps you can be of assistance in putting a name to the unknown tracks from MoL LoMN and WoS. Try as I might, I can't figure out what part of the movie to name them after, even after having a full marathon of all three and checking all the DVD menus. O_o

You're right, I've seen you more in other places like YouTube (you're the guy who saved all those cool Quest of the Toa videos) than BZP.

I can understand why one would want to rip at 320kbps, but there are some tracks I specifically exported at 128 that I'm sure were hastily upconverted. Examples are the instrumental version of Gravity Hurts and the MNOLGII soundtrack (at least I think the latter's my version... the runtimes match up).

It's not a huge deal, but I think it unnecessarily adds size to an already huge download.

If you watched all three films and couldn't figure out where they went, my guess would be that they were composed for promotional material like trailers, or maybe even for the hell of it. Another possibility is that they were composed for the deleted scenes in Mask of Light (if there were any deleted scenes for the other two films, they were never released).

Yep, that would be me alright. Still a shame about that project, but no point in letting the few released assets go to waste. :)

Well that would have been Auron's doing then. All I did to those was normalize them with the rest of the archive, correct any file errors, and added necessary album art and id3 tags.

I never thought of checking out trailers actually, that might be the missing link here. I'm not sure about deleted scenes though. As far as MoL is concerned, if they WERE done for deleted scenes, we'll never know for certain since those that were included on the DVD only had voice acting and sound effects.

This is incredible. Thank you for putting together this massive collection. I'm a huge Bionicle fan -- never stopped being one when I grew up! -- and this is a big deal to me. @_@

It's missing the Bionicle Music website tracks (the site was around during Bionicle's premier I guess as an idea of the universe's atmosphere), though those are already in another thread so I'm not complaining for you to add them or anything. The Bionicle Heroes console version rip is also in another thread.

Interesting you mention the BionicleMusic.com tracks. Would you mind linking them to me? Others on the team are still working on tracking down assets from the old sites for the BMP 5.5 milestone, but as far as I know, this is still yet to be found. On top of that, I can slip it in here when Music 2.1 rolls around after I crawl the rest of the flash games. :P

EDIT: Unless you mean the Power Pack music, which is categorized under Songs/2001.

It is done: BIONICLE Heroes (Console) (http://www.mediafire.com/download/4vutq1rgjjq6rsm/)
Bear in mind it's normally just for staff use, so it's not the best of rips. It also contains the original game files.

I was reading through the credits and found something interesting:

Thanks to Katuko for notifying us we shouldn't distribute BIONICLE Heroes music.

Now, it's been a few years, but when I was uploading BIONICLE music on my own I was told that I could distribute Heroes music as long I had this thing (http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html) attached to it. It only worked for Heroes I think because the game files had the license in it too, making it legal or something. Have you heard anything about that?

This is all from memory because all posts on BZPower from before 2010 were destroyed, so I can't give you anything more concrete than that.

Actually, I wasn't aware of this. All I knew was what Auron told me in that the only basis we have that Heroes is technically illegal to archive is that Traveler's Tales is still an active company. Heroes GBA and DS were ok because they were outsourced to the now defunct Amaze Entertainment. I've hacked in to the Heroes iso before and didn't notice anything about a license, but I could double check again. Perhaps you could help locate some info from BZP on the Web Archive?

EDIT: Just checked the files, and it seems you are absolutely correct! The audio folder contains an ogg to wav converter and a copy of the GPL in a text file. I'll notify Auron and start working on the 2.1 release I guess. :P

You should rejoin the staff. You seem pretty knowledgeable, having known all this even while we're squabbling like Gukko birds on the subject. :P

YOU wouldn't happen to know a source for the samples on BionicleMusic.com would you? All the Web Archive versions of the page are hopelessly broken. :/

Indeed. I just finished replacing this rip with the one from LairOfRockwhales since it's better overall. That will be included with updated album art and legal info in 2.1.0 and he'll be added to the credits list.

Alright so bad news, I've been informed that the GPL document is likely referring to the converter program in the same folder. I WILL however attempt to get written permission from Ian Livingstone himself to add this to our archive, as he has apparently been known to converse with people on Twitter.

Well I heard back from Ian. He said he's ok with it, but I'd have to talk to Traveller's Tales as they own the copyright. I had hoped that the composer would retain the rights to music, but I guess I was wrong. In any case, they might be a bit harder to convince, but I'm hoping that my conversation with Ian will give me some leverage and they won't just ignore the request right off the bat.

My general rule of thumb is that if it's not being sold in stores anymore, and if the company's not receiving any profit from it anymore, it's all right to distribute it (especially since Ian's fine with it). But I understand why you want to stay within legal territory, and I admire that. Good luck.

Well according to BS01, Heroes still has limited availability. In any case, I have no issue with it, it's Auron I need to convince. The only reason we have the DS, GBA and soon Mobile versions is because the developing companies have all since shut down.
