Just on with trying to extract the 5.1 audio from the Blu-Ray release of Raise The Titanic.

Any extracted tracks will be shared here ... going for End Titles to see how things look.

Good luck! I will be eagerly awaiting.

Well there's good news and bad....

All four channels (left/right, rear left/rear right) ALL contain sound effects and dialogue. So removing just the score will be a hard chore. Sadly the rear channels become mono, so we'd end up with mono which has slightly less dialogue and sound effects.

I'll do the best I can to create a score, but it WON'T be anywhere near perfect.

BUT......

I found something out this week. Network Distribution in the UK recently released Raise the Titanic on DVD with some extras (mostly the images of the Titanic during production). I asked whether they had access to any form of the score. It turns out they are working on another edition which will have what remains of the score as a separate audio track! I asked what they could tell me about what still existed but they never replied ... but something is due!

--UPDATE--

Here is a preview of the first 7 tracks, I've gone through and extracted the tracks as I find them - no labelling yet.

Please feedback on what you think. I've had to go through as many auto remove vocal processes to try and remove as much speech as I can -- I think these are "ok" ... not great by any means.

They are great I think. A bit edgy and harsh but since you are extracting them from the film they are ok.Keep it up!

It would appear whoever encoded the 5.1 channels struggled with the 2 channels they likely had to work with - pretty much doing what I'm doing, trying to calm things down in the background. I would have thought though being mastered to 1080p (and for the record looks bloody awful!) they would have had access to film stock that they could have extracted the score separately.

I'll see how the remaining tracks go.

A noble goal, best of luck

I've found a slightly better method of removing the voice from the track ... sadly not perfect but leaves more of the score intact. Feedback on this track please:

Ok, that was better than expected. The soft-focus mushy voices aren't as intrusive as i'd have thought.
I liked the official score cd re-do, but would still love to have the original recordings even at reduced fidelity with sfx.

You're never gonna appease the rigid quality nazi's out there, but there will those who'll appreciate your efforts to salvage this beautiful lost score.

Thanks for the feedback, it was finding the standoff between losing music and removing as much speech as possible. I found that with the piece where the submersible explodes, performing the same method actually removed quite a lot of sfx too. I shall go back to the tracks I've already done and enhance further. Sadly I think (until the release of the Network version - see my post above), this will be as close as possible as to having the complete, original score.

I have to admit the Nic Raine version is very good .... but I hate re-recordings. This has been a personal mission for 10+ years to actually have the ORIGINAL, Barry score.

I shall keep working.

Nothing beats an original Barry score. Some re-dos are good but I prefer the OST if possible. Clearly, your work is a labor of love and the results are pretty good as evidenced by the latest piece, dialog notwithstanding. Keep up the good work!

Many thanks for your efforts, hyperjase! Sounds great to my ears!
I'm also like Raine's re-recording, but to have the original John Barry's soundtrack would be fantastic!

Full score ripped .... 32 tracks, every piece of music from the score is here. One track I'm not happy with because of how much editing I had to do, but everything sounds remarkably OK. 52 minutes of score.

I have 3 more tracks to edit and remove dialogue, then I shall create a cover.

It should be ready in the next few days. I will share MP3 and FLAC versions.

PLEASE DON'T EXPECT PERFECTION! As much as I like trying to create something that is faithful to what would be a perfect score, this isn't quite there. Lots of dialogue and sound effects that would cause too much damage to the score, I've left intact. I hope everyone can enjoy it though.
