HANNIBAL SEASON ONE SCORE PROMO (WEB-RIP EVOLUTION MUSIC PARTNERS): BRIAN REITZELL

704.2 mb
2013
88 Tracks
mp3 192
8.5 Hours

https://mega.co.nz/#!dlNTybgJ!gw6CuQYTpWbeDupyt_VJj03IsplFksZQtH2aJhF JXpg

Yes, over eight hours of fx free score. Downloaded from the site at the bit-rate offered which is a shame, but nothing I can control. There are already 115 tracks for season two up, running at a little over 4 hours. Season 2 however downloads at 320. **yay** Season one is labelled only with slates. Oddly, season two has no slates, just track titles. I will be adding season 2 to the site at some point but I always trim silences and do what I can to level sound. As always, any tips or critiques to help me accomplish this are welcome. Custom covers are added into the archive. I have a separate track for main and end titles but have not got to adding them yet. Enjoy.

Thanks. Hannibal was one of the best shows - if you're going to do a series about serial killers this is how you do it and its also an example of how to revive a character, Hannibal Lector, - of the past year and it beat the ever lovin' crap out of two of last year's similarly themed programs: The Following and The Cult, easily two of the worst shows of 2013.

oh my gosh, 88 tracks? :)
thank you amanda!

88 tracks is nothing. Bones, Mentalist and castle can reach hundreds. But if they are only 18 seconds, means little. Most of these tracks are 4 to 5 minutes, many longer and some are a little over 9 minutes. So 88 tracks did not seem like much to me at first, but after trimming massive silences, it's 8 and a half hours. Surpassing any other season collection thus far. It HAS to be the majority of the written score. I have not seen the series but it also has to be pretty densely scored.

Wow...can't believe this is out! Thank you!

What do you mean by "out"? It is not an official release. I downloaded each track from the music rep site. It did not dl with track names so all had to be titled and tagged by hand. Then each track was edited in audacity to remove silences (quite a lot in cases) and my once again feeble attempt at sound leveling. Then they were assembled and presented to you here. The covers (all 3 variations) are custom covers kindly created by the member bobyaco. :)

So, I can hardly believe it is out myself. :awsm:

David Slade directed several of episodes of Hannibal including the pilot which set the tone stylistically and artistically for the rest of the series. Slade also directed 30 Days of Night a valiant if not entirely successful alternative take - old school as it were - on vampires. (At least his vampires didn't sparkle and glow.) But Reitzell did the music for 30 Days and Slade brought him on board. Result: some truly unsettling music.

After watching a doc on Investigation Discovery about the californian "Toolbox Murders" and googling about specific details of what those vicious fucking bastards did to those girls in 1979, I promised I'd never want to know anything about serial killers anymore, even if fictional. But Hannibal is an exception. It's very depressing and disturbing, but still worth a watch.

When it comes to death we can't help but watch. Here's a further depressing note: there's about 5000 years of recorded human history - from Sumeria to the present day- and in those 5000 years only 500 years have been free of war. Not free from murder, killing or other forms of lethal conflict, just free from war. And those 500 years weren't back to back, they are scattered throughout the 5000.

So humans have spent 90 percent of our history - recorded that is - killing one another on a grand scale. No wonder death fascinates us as a species:

It's the one thing we truly excel at.

We probably have it in us ever since the Neanderthals and other types of primitive humans began interbreeding... who knows.

Is it fair to say that if such a "rooted" thing shocks some of us, then we stepped up in evolution?

I rented the first disc yesterday, since I'm a big fan of Mads Mikkelsen and I wanted to have a context for when I listened to the score. Basically, it's a typical police procedural with little to no character development. Hannibal is a lesser supporting character that comes off as more of a robot than a sadist. The show's visual style is interesting, but not enough to sustain my interest. The four episodes I watched was enough, and I don't think I'll be watching anymore of it. Which is sad, since it was creator of the show also did Pushing Daisies, which is one of my favorite shows.

The score reminded me a lot of Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross' work for David Fincher. Mostly sound design (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), but less thematic material than I usually prefer. I'll be giving the promo a listen to soon.

you really should have given more episodes a chance
the first five episodes arent indicative of the shows overall quality and it gets much less procedure-ish after that

I might finish off the rest of the season... I'm undecided right now. I'm in the mood for something creepy, and this seems to scratch that itch well enough. Does Hannibal ever become more involved in the show? Even though he didn't have a significant amount of screen-time in the movies, he was still a vital part of the story. I'm not sure what his purpose is on the show; he doesn't seem to do much.

Hannibal doesn't have a significant amount of time in the movies? That would apply to Manhunter most certainly and also The Silence Of The Lambs but not the other three films. As for the tv series, he's all over it like beans on toast.

It's a riveting watch. And for any one who's read the books, it's a real feast as it's clearly been made by folk who are well versed with Thomas Harris's work.

Amanda, considering you don't watch the show I'm even more staggered by your commitment to bringing this music to us. I'm very thankful indeed.

It's too bad that happened. I really don't understand all of the childish behavior that goes along with score collecting. We all love music, can't we simply leave it at that? I can't believe people waste their time acting so idiotic.

I really would've liked to hear the season 2 stuff, as well. I hate it that more and more people are becoming so disheartened because of the actions of a few immature pricks. All of the fun is being drained out of what should be one of life's greatest pleasures.

IF you followed google, you will not find it. THAT main page leads to a tenth of what they have. Go here instead: Evolution Music Partners (http://office.evolutionmusicpartners.com/main)

It's weird, now. When you log in an error box will appear thats says null widget or some such. Click ok. The box will appear again. Click ok 12 more times. (**I Know**), and it will go awasy. You will then be free to move around the cabin. The composers will be in a column on the left. Click a composer and a box will show near the top listing all projects by that composer. Or use a search. DO NOT click the "do not show this message again" button. The error box will go away, but you will not be able to pull anything up. You'd have to log out then log back in. The tracks are considered previews, and most will dl at mp3 128. but it just depends. These happen to actually be 320. You will not be able to use the standard download helper to capture the stream. I am using flashgot for firefox. With most you will need to manually match the downloaded track to the site and tag it all as you go. (which is why I dislike this site sometimes).

---------- Post added at 10:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:05 AM ----------

To be clear, I cannot say positively anyone hear reported my links. A couple are mad at me, and the timing to me is suspicious. Also, I use at least 3 mega accounts. I keep the links for individual sites separate. So this set of links was used almost totally for shrine only. Just saying.

I was unaware that you were injured, so I appreciate that you've done what you have, although I'm glad you started watching the show, it needs the viewers. 04-16-2014, 03:43 AM
It was a long while ago I registered. I was talking to a person who says they work closely with the group and it seems my many uploads of score here has not gone unnoticed or uncared about. He said there was discussion about locking the site to new members or removing the samples option etc. So I dunno. Many here would consider the source as knowing the deal. I have actually wondered if I should stop posting the stuff. Especially new Hannibal so soon. I just dunno really. Any thoughts?

saltydonnie
04-16-2014, 04:13 AM
Given your information, I would wager to say that the source site admins are likely wondering where an infusion of new subscribers are coming from, and have nixed approvals. So I'm not going to attempt any additional sign ups other than my current one. If you have access, keep it.

As for Season 2, its up to you. In for a penny, in for a pound. You could post what ya have now, or wait until they post the full season 2 score and then post it, which would be after the season is over, and perhaps any issues would die down.

The sad thing is if they, like, actually sold the score, even the 8.5 hour first season, I would drop the coin to buy it. I'm doing my part to get more people watching the show (which in turn employs the composer for another season). I have all the classical music from each episode (based on another website that posts Youtube links to each song on Saturday mornings following the Friday episode airing). I know from IMDB's forums that others want the score and would pay for it, but alas, no formal release. They don't even have to release it on CD, a pay to download feature would work fine.

FYI I haven't seen your (this) post identified or even mentioned anywhere other than this forum. Usually, a post like yours will get downloaded, re-named and re-posted to another forum. Not with this - you are the sole source for the material. And if you use the proper search terms, your post comes up first or second in a Google Search. So I'm surprised more don't know about it.

Well this site is just a composer representation site. The rights to publish likely are not the composer's. But yea. Then look, even Walking Dead gets no love and it is wildly popular. Bear, now people KNOW Bear's name....

Thank you for the Season 1 :)

Ok, but as was pointed out to me, this site licenses this music out for money. If I post it, even @ 128, it is out for free. So even more than small labels this in theory takes food right off of their tables. I mentioned to my source that this is measley mp3's, most at 128. He said they do not see it that way. So I really dunno what to think.

Lawyer answer - "it depends". Again, not many in the wider world are aware of your posts, so the real-world impact is negligible. 128 is not exactly high quality (like a crappy b/w xerox of a photograph). Further, they license it for commercial purchasers, sure, but would they sell it to little old me if I opened my bill fold? They could make more bank if they did, and I'm game.

Thank you so much for sharing this absolutely wonderful soundtrack! I was not aware of Brian Reitzell before I saw the first season of Hannibal, but he is now one of my favourite composers for sure!

I'm having trouble dl'ing the rar you posted. Is it only me or is the link dead somehow? I see the file on Mega, but I can't dl it for some reason. Just says "Temporary error, retrying" forever.

You do know this is not an official release, right? There is no link for season 2 since I have not edited and compiled it yet. When I do I will post it. I am kinda waiting to see if any more tracks get posted. There is about 4 and a half hours for it right now, but I am not in a hurry. If you are, you or someone else can find, rip and compile it. I had intended to get it done earlier but had an...issue affecting my health and mood. So, It will be done when it's done....

Oh, my mistake. I simply thought you could download the mp3 files individually or something (I never visited the site, so I wasn't sure of how it worked). I have no problem with waiting. I've only watched the first two episodes of season 2 anyways, so I'm in no hurry. Thanks for taking the time to share this music with us. I appreciate it.

Each track has to be downloaded separately. Then tagged as the dl does not contain the proper meta data. Then I edit out silences and level sound. So, it takes a while. There are about 120 tracks for season 2.

GrayEdwards
05-11-2014, 11:56 AM
So quite a bit more than season 1. I guess that just means the tracks are shorter. I wonder if season 2 was just composed differently than, or if the first season combined multiple tracks into a single cue.

Changing the meta data is a bitch, though. It's amazing how such a seemingly simple task can take hours upon hours. There are times when I regret being OCD about that kind of thing.

Amanda
05-11-2014, 01:30 PM
More tracks, but only about 4 1/2 hours, where season 1 is over 8. Also, season 1 dow2nloaded at mp3 192, but season 2 downloads as 320. So. I believe season 1 to be nearly the full season's score. Many tracks are quite huge, likely whole sections between commercials. Season 2 run 5 min or less. I do not know if they are broken up cues or if season 2 is just less heavily scored.

The source music is actually of more interest to me than the original score (great as it is). The various renditions of Goldberg Variations and the classical pieces are most excellent - it would be nice to have them all together in one place.

I'm looking forward to season 2 music

Me too. Especially the season finale episode.

I know that PaulStretch (software) was used for one musical piece for that episode. I was blown away by its usage.

I don't want musichannibal.tumblr.com crap.
I can do that myself (and did do that).

I want actual confirmation on what Reitzell used for the slow motion music and not just a guess.
The Goldberg Variations are practically public domain with about a thousand different versions you can find (purchased or downloaded).
The "Gould" version is what the tumblr user decided to use.
I have Glenn Gould and Keith Jarrett cover versions of The Goldberg Variations.
It's still relatively unknown just how much he (Reitzell; not the tumblr crapper) slowed the music down for that episode.
It may not have been a solid integer but a fractional speed (exempli gratia: 3.78964542987...).

I'd have to watch the episode again and use a Beautiful Mind to calculate the timing and/or any editing (pre-time length trimming to suite the episode).

I tried to google but only found fans to do their own crap and no word from any production notes or the composer himself.

I seriously hope it comes up in the special features for the season 2 blu-ray.
The season 1 blu-ray has an awesome featurette on the music for the series.

Amanda

The composer has not updated samples for several weeks, so at least the last 4 episodes are not represented.

I think I'm going to try do some PaulStretch on some random covers of The Goldberg Variations (Aria).
With different speeds.

I can post the x4 and x8 slowed versions in MP3.
I can also do Vide Cor Meum in PaulStretch slow motion too, just for fun. (the vocals sound weird and could be annoying at some parts, but the orchestra is superb in PaulStretch).

I don't have any lossless sources for Reitzell's work do any PaulStretch.
Using his Mp3 samples could cause unwanted artefacts (or pleasing side-effects).
I could rip something from the season one blu-ray (since the music and largely concentrated in the FL/FR/SL/SR/LFE channels, leaving the C channel to dialoge/sfx) and PaulStretch that. The titles should be relatively simple. The end credit snippets, as well.

I have the Glenn Gould CD. I also identified some Bach in season one and Faure's In Paradissum from his Mess de Requiem appeared in season two. It would be nice if, at some point, the makers of the series credited their sources as I'd really like to put together a collection of the classical music used in the series.

Amanda
05-29-2014, 02:33 PM
Well I downloaded these from the web-site. No meta data so the tracks had to be matched and hand numbered. Then I imported each track into Audacity to trim silences, fade in and out where needed and leveled sound volume where needed. I export, naming, numbering and tagging each track by hand. After the album is done, I label the set and put it into the library, pack it and upload it. I gather info such as year, size in mb, number of tracks, running time and create the thread here. In this case I also requested covers which were kindly provided in the cover thread. So those were also uploaded and posted. Hannibal is over 8 hours of score. So tell me again how this is not my work? You do not credit me ever, but what's more disturbing is your poaching of the custom art as if it were nothing. You are required by forum rules to post the mirror in the same thread, which you did not. Your post is the exact same as the one I posted last year. Everyone can see that now. They can see a lot of my stuff now. And I stopped before finishing tp sleep. You support free sharing, fine. But you take custom editing and act as if it is your find. These are not official releases to be passed around willy nilly. These are personal sets I have made for me, that I share here as a side thing.

No, don't bother with that. People here are free to post anything they want aside from banned labels. The only technical violation of rules is he should have mirrored in my thread and not made his own since it is the same archive/work. And, mirroring in my thread does not bother me since a number of people cannot use Mega.

I would never advocate taking down a blog or site. Lots of folks out there do not know about us here and so depend on that site for their music.

I wonder what pieces they gave out at this year's panel at Comic Con.
Bryan Fuller claims they're not planned for any release, given only to those who attended the panel.
He mentions it here; Hannibal Panel, SDCC 2014 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhRLSCjufJA#t=3093)

Edit: It seems I've answered my own question. I just found this;
Track Listing:

02. Elise Came Back
03. 201 Teaser (Not on Soundtrack)

06. Show Me Yours
07. Hole in the Roof (Not on Soundtrack)

nice to hear about the score

also checking these promo tracks, I realize the coding is a bit misleading

most numbers correspond to the right episode
but episode 3 is actually 105
episode 5 is 106
episode 6 is 107
and episode 7 is 103

and the biggest missing sections seem to be 110m2 and 103m5

Amanda

They are as downloaded, and labeled as labeled on the site? I duno. But, most of these have been taken down now, so instead of gaining missing tracks, we lost existing ones. Ah well, at least we got them grabbed before they went. Are you saying these tracks are mis-labled? These are the way the composer listed them, is it possible that running orders were changed before airing? If ep 7 is 103, then is 103 really 107? I need advice before tearing apart the archive...
