I'll stop there because this is getting way too long already. I'd estimate that's about half of my collection. That's the result of 8 years of collecting.

Any true anime fan collects more than just anime videos. I collect not just the videos, but tons of dolls of Sailor Moon Evangelion etc., action figures, wall scrolls and miscellaneous. I've got so much anime merchandise, I'm not even going to go over the list unless a moderator demands me.

Uh, I disagree with you there, TG. I could (but I won't) argue that a real anime fan would spend their money on actual anime rather than collectibles. To each his/her own.

I resent that! If you really show dedication in your fandom, that's all that counts as a true anime fan. I am highly obsessed and dedicated to anime and I'm and always willing to be a true anime fan. Well, the best example I can give is the parts in Evangelion which weren't 'serious' - like all the early Asuka episodes, and the 'alternate universe' episodes towards the end.

You know, sort of romantic comedy with giant robots involved.

I've got no problem watching anime in Japanese - I usually watch Metropolis that way. The English dub is OK, but the original Japanese is how I saw it in the theatre.

Unfortunately neither Dual or Maze have been released on region 4 DVD :(

I'm hopefully getting my PS2 chipped (when I get my PStwo) to make it region-free, though.

Dude, buy region 0. Much cheaper and they work on any player.

I forgot about Gunsmith Cats, Bubblegum Crisis and Tokyo Babylon 2040

My anime Collection sucks, all i have is the Evangelion series, the Nadesico series and 2 or 3 anime films, but the importing of anime to the UK is slight, i had to tape my collection from the TV, i've asked to have stuff imported, but they can't import anything that they don't have on the list, it's kinda crappy

i want Tenchi Muyo to be back on the TV, because then i could tape it ^_^ but it's not on Cartoon Network anymore, we used to get loads of anime on CN, but now we get none, i have to constantly check the Sci-Fi channel to see if any anime's are on, on occaision, we get Gasaraki and Ark the lad and a few other anime's on the Sci-Fi channel, but it's almost always on at like 5am, so i can't watch it (boo!)

i want to got to america or canada and bring a DVD or VHS back of an anime that i can watch, because i'm being starved of anime and i'm an anime lover! i don't know why, i've always had a fasonation of Japanese animation, and cartoons, like DBZ and Zoids and CardCaptors and all that....weird if you ask me...ohh well...i'm a weird child ^_^

Any true anime fan collects more than just anime videos. I collect not just the videos, but tons of dolls of Sailor Moon Evangelion etc., action figures, wall scrolls and miscellaneous. I've got so much anime merchandise, I'm not even going to go over the list unless a moderator demands me.

Unlike some people, I perfer to only purchase anime (whether on DVD or VHS) rather than illegally downloading it, hence I'm missing quite a few episodes in various series (either due to not having gotten around to purchasing the remaining DVDs in the set, or, as in the case of series like Last Exile, the reamaining DVD volumes haven't yet been released here.) But I'm perhaps getting a little far ahead of myself.

it isn't that big i've got 3 tapes of rurouni kenshin (in japanese with korean subtitles, 3 shows on each tape), some escaflowne tapes and i have spirited away if thats considered anime. for manga i have 3 books on conan, 3-4 books on some korean manga, and 3-4 books on dbz i think that's it...

For me the anime doesn't stop at just moives, theres all kinds of things to have. Like the toys, collectibles, cards, clothes, etc. I have the Cowboy Bebop movie, and a special edition Cowboy Bebop collectors series DVD, with all the series. Mainly I am a DBZ fan though, I have about 1/2 the entire series of DBZ, all the Gt, and starting the Dragonball series, plus movies, overall 30+ DBZ DVD's.I have all the irwin toys action figures from season 1 to 28, most recent, I also have the Giant APe toys from movies, and fusions. Clothes I have tons of anime shirts, not sure how many. I also have posters, calenders, bobble heads, etc. Thats roughly what I have :)

I just got some Xebec and Stellvia. I got Mao-Chan the other day, it's hilarious. DNAngel was worth getting too.

Hmm... it's sad that I actually keep track of how much I have.

Nothing really sad about it. I have to keep mine organized otherwise I lose track of them. I just use an Excel Sheet to keep it all organized. I mean last I checked:

rate and hate. :p i added a few personl notes regarding a few of the titles within the recorded anime section. i dont' know if you can read them. nothing important. just stating how i had to choose the closest matching result from IGN's databases compared to my recordings. for example. i don't have blue sub 6 limited edition. it was the only result that matches the fact that i recorded it off the tv.

so yah.

i want the type of cotton that doesn't stretch like fucking pantyhose. a REAL t-shirt quality. i'm never buying anime t-shirts from there again. -_-

I start collect anime about 1.5 years ago. Big part of my colletion i copied from my friends, because in my city not sell anime (except 52 episode's in 1DVD). I never seen legaly DVD, only pirate in all shops (1 dvd cost about 3-4$, and not only anime any DVD 3-4$ (even PS2 & Xbox 360 games)).
In our city 2 way get anime: 1 - by friends, 2- postal traffic with other town's. Internet download - too expensive, about 10$ for 150 MB.

If you ask why i collect anime, i answer. My little brother very love watch anime (25-30 episode's in day (he maniac =) ), and also i love collect something :-P .

PS1. All i said about our city's, broadly speaking, Moscow and Russia - 2 split country.

I would just like to point out that if anime downloads count, then by the mere fact that they're available to all of us, we all count as having practically every anime ever made. Therefore, it is probably best to stick to things that you have hard copies of. Also, if all you do is download anime and never shell out money to support the industry, you suck and are irrelevant.

What ever hentai I have on my list is very old and I didn't enjoy any of the ones I watched. I did have a lot of h-manga though, some I found enjoyable.

In my experience, people who put down others for not having a life are generally a little insecure. In that context a "Life" generally means you have inane conversations with shallow people about meaningless things. Sometimes on myspace, sometimes not, and none of it particularly fulfilling.

At least if I find a DVD to be shallow or without worth I can take it out of the machine and never watch it again.

Well, I'm not gonna bother listing what I have on my HD, since that doesn't count, and I delete it after I watch it anyway.

Basically, I don't buy anime. I've got about a total of original 20 DVD/VHSs. No not box sets, just movies or a couple of eps. And I only bought 3 of those myself. I don't like buying anime because I only watch them once anyway. Also, their collective value is usually a lot less than that of games. Something I do buy. I own 220+ original games and no illegal copies.

I totally 100% agree with this comment & would personally kill anyone who thinks that they are too good to buy the legit copy. Sure, you can download it to sample it before you buy it, but if you are not going to buy it, then you should delete it, not keep it. Bastards...

what about those which are sold on Ebay but not licenced by a major cmpany on DVD yet? i don't like to wait 5 years before they are released Region 2 in the UK, so why not buy it on ebay.

It's a somewhat different matter if there is no legit licensor, obviously, although my personal sense of ethics says that once a title you've bought a bootlegged copy of is actually released in your area, the bootleg should be discarded/destroyed.

Any other anime I just watch online or download it (and then erase from my computer after I'm done watching. xD; ).

The top of my list are physically bought copies some on DVD some on VHS. I did buy all the Urusei Yatsura and Gundam DVDs and so on. That's why Aura Battler Dunbine is incomplete, I never got the last 2 DVDs because ADV short changed and screwed some of us.

Which means any newer titles I get from ADV will not count as officially licensed, because I'm only going to rent and burn their DVDs.

Apparently I cannot afford to buy the anime I want, although I plan on buying my favorite series in the future. I only own Spirited Away :laugh:
