Thanks, but I tried again and now it seems to go a lot faster. Hopefully it will stay that way. I'll upload it to MEGA if no one else does.

I will definitely get this blu-ray though, but I'm really curious about it right now. Plus it will take until March before I can get my hands on it (collector's edition of the game itself).

While the Blu-ray (96khz) FLAC files are still uploading, I also made mp3 files from these files, since they take a lot less time to upload. Here we go:

FFX HD Remaster 320 CBR MP3
https://mega.co.nz/#!tdV2DCRC!KCZVeXw0iZVqFYX13lJLo5xcxxxnj6M33YvTDd6 nxUU

Oops..Forgot the Password:

FFXHD

The FLAC files will be posted tomorrow, since it's getting late and I won't be awake when the uploading is done.

Also, I'm afraid I noticed some distortions in two files. From what I have listened to track 12 and 52 have distortions in them because they are just simply too loud. I can also hear these distortions in the 96khz FLAC files so it's not because of my conversion to mp3. I'm wondering how this happened though, maybe something went wrong when extracting from the blu-ray? Anyways....the rest sounds absolutely glorious though. The sound quality is very good (except for those two tracks).

It could be a problem with the mastering process, but until another rip comes out. It's hard to say what exactly is the cause.

Thanks extremely much for the superb uploads. I had a question though. Based on the JPN soundtrack website (FINAL FANTASY X HD Remaster Original Soundtrack | SQUARE ENIX (http://www.square-enix.co.jp/music/sem/page/FFXHD/)), it seemed to indicate that there are 104 total tracks, while the MP3 download had 94. I assume it was like that in the original chinese upload, but I'm curious if anyone had any leads on where one might find the additional 10 bonus tracks?

In fact,I have reminded that there is problem in track 12...They have some problems when Sony burn them into the blu-ray instead of extracting incorrectly...

Not a fan of the fades either. Sounds like more of a rip than an actual soundtrack. Some tracks aren't remastered either.

RyuFAN
12-28-2013, 06:50 PM
They didn't remaster every track. Song of Prayers remain the same, as do some of the incidental musics, like Djose, Cloister of Trials etc.

I don't agree with the Bluray releases. Though I do appreciate some of Hamauzu's arrangements, especially when real instruments are used. It just seems a shame that FFX HD get the same kind of budget like other games like Lightning Returns gets. I mean Decisive Battle needed Warsaw and Hirano.

Jakah
12-28-2013, 08:24 PM
I agree about Decisive Battle. i was kinda hoping they would have used an orchestra for it. [plus, Hirano's arrangements are always glorious].
One thing that kind of bothers me about the arrangement is that he piano is ridiculously quiet. :/

Sorry guys, the uploading of the Blu-Ray files have been a bitch from the start. Everything that can go wrong, has gone wrong (for instance, Mega gave a big "ERROR" after the file was done uploading), probably because I've never uploaded such a huge file before.

I'm trying this again, but if someone can upload this before me then, please, go ahead! I hope the mp3 files were enough of a help for now ;)

Try to split it up in multiple archives....

Or

Say me if you are interested to upload it in a Website, (I can give you a special login to the FTP of my site), then everybody will be able to download it without any restriction. (if yes, pm me)

Alright, so it is a mastering error then. Only SE can fix this problem, hopefully in the next batch.

What's the difference between VBR and not-VBR?

VBR has a different bitrate per frame and produces an overall much better results compared to CBR & others, including a smaller file size.

What's the difference between VBR and not-VBR?

Basically... CBR is a "constant bit rate", and VBR is a "variable bit rate".

Basically, in simple terms, as far as I'm aware (too tautological?), CBR has a constant bit rate, so that no matter what's playing, it will always be the same number of bits per second. Where as, with VBR, the basic idea, is that the more complex the data is (i.e. the more sound), the higher the bitrate. And the less complex, the lower. For example, an orchestral piece might have a higher bit rate at a dramatic part, but if there's a part where only a single instrument is playing, it'll be lower. The advantage is, there's a better "quality to space" ratio. The only major disadvantages are for players that don't support VBR, and that it takes longer to process, but unless you're impatient... that shouldn't be a problem.

Does anyone have a complete translation for the tracklists in English?

As in characters legal for non-unicode Windows applications.

First of all, I am not the person who extract an upload it. It seems that the person who first rip it extracted sound track from the video. Infact, this blu-ray also have video track, but that person who rip it didn't upload the video track, for video track is only constructed with some pictures

I went ahead and made an English version of the .CUE file (https://mega.co.nz/#!10xVXBJQ!cBcR1Cu6mw9uIGX5pZ2PDivTuX40R5yQMS3j09Y X-Ts) based upon the VGMdb list (with a couple of deviations for personal taste). I figured some might find it useful.

It would be great if someone can make proper Japanese .cue file as the one contained is based in Unicode UTF-8 and not one of the Japanese encodings.

XLD refuses to read the titles correctly.

I think it's been said a couple of times now, but what the heck:

The tracks from FFX-2 are identical to the music from the PS2 version, so I'm not reuploading those tracks. Just get the FFX-2 OST from the PS2 version and you'll have everything you need!

It took it's sweet time, but we finally have a mirror of the 96khz Blu-Ray files. Here we go
MIRROR ~ FFX HD Remaster Blu-Ray files (FLAC 96khz)

I used Foobar to split the files. It was the only program for me that accepted the CUE file.

It's worth noting that the file you posted contains the unsplit All_Chapter.flac (+ All_Chapter.cue), which is one big file, containing tracks 1~94, but not the X-2 bonus tracks (no offense), so those who want the complete album, go to Baidu from the first post.

This rip is not only sampled at 96 kHz, but with 24-bit depth. But! There's not much happening above 22 kHz (see spoiler), so practically it's like a rip sampled at 44.1 kHz (in other words 54% of the filesize is wasted, redundant). I can't tell if it's the source or just the rip.

Also, the cue file is crap, several start and end times are incorrect (see 3rd image: the beginning of track 6 is at the end of track 5).
Anyway, still better than nothing.

Who knows? I don't have the blu-ray yet.....but as long as we're not paying for it this'll make do until someone is able to do better (maybe without the clipping in a couple of songs) ;)

I just uploaded exactly what xxyk posted initially and it's not his personal rip either.

A friendly note though....I already said many times before (about 3 times now LOL) that I didn't add the FFX-2 tracks because they're not rearranged, they're identical to the original tracks. It already was a pain uploading this huge file (I could've done it differently, I know :p)

All in all, it is kinda strange that not much is happening above the 22000 Hz.

Unfortunately, I've seen these low frequencies with the FF14: Before Meteor OST as well. Either lossy masters were used or the audio is AC-3 (a common audio format for Blu-ray movies) which is a lossy format. I'm thinking it's more the latter.

EDIT: Scratch that that last part... looked at the back of the box for the bluray and it says PCM 2.0 so lossless audio. So it either boils down to lossy masters or a really shit rip.

Ooooh...not for a while. When the game is released (it's included in the limited edition). So go ahead.
But I'm sure there's somebody on ffshrine who has bought the Japanese blu-ray soundtrack. Maybe that "somebody" could help out here ;)

The reason the files sounded fine to you is probably because they -- and the rip -- are fine. Square Enix has a reputation of upsampling CD-quality audio onto Blu-ray and charging out the nose for it. As far as I know, that's been the case for every Blu-ray soundtrack they've released. See this explanation (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/nobuo-uematsu-et-al-final-fantasy-orchestral-126753/#post2260561) on the "Final Fantasy Orchestral Album" thread. Furthermore, the waveforms make apparent that the FFX HD Remaster has been subjected to heavy dynamic compression -- that probably explains the distortion only being present on two tracks.

In other words, it's the source. This is probably as good as it's going to get. In fact, someone should post a 44.1/16-bit conversion and save everyone the trouble of downloading the extra gigabytes.

I see that too.

I would do that and it needs even more work (e.g. normalizing), so before that I'll wait for confirmation from someone who has the Blu-ray to post waveforms of the source, or extract (not rip) some tracks at their original quality in uncompressed PCM (WAV / AIFF?) for us to look at.

Also, there is someting that requires track-by-track attention in an audio editor: the cue file is messed up, several start and end times are off (see 3rd image (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/final-fantasy-x-hd-remaster-original-soundtrack-166417/4.html#post2564308) for one example: the beginning of track 6 is at the end of track 5, that ruins both tracks involved).

BTW, based on the link you gave and some further research (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f70/final-fantasy-orchestra-album-124977/#post2260324), maybe there is no uncompressed PCM on the Blu-ray (more lies), just FLAC muxed into the MKV files and maybe all the guy who shared on Baidu did was demux the FLAC audio from the MKVs along with the messed up CUEs!

Okay I found the clipping and distortion; horrible.

How exactly is a cue sheet even generated for a Blu-ray audio disc? The only one I have at the moment is the FFXIV Before Meteor disc, and I ripped that one for my personal use. It's basically just like having a bunch of video files and demuxing the lossless audio track from them. (i.e. nothing like a CD)

I'm definitely not an expert on Blu-ray ripping, so I was just curious if anyone knows how the cue sheet was created to help my brain make sense of it :P

Very true. I can't even stand to listen to it without applying ReplayGain. It's a shame, because for the most part I do think that the new tracks are improvements over the originals.

Btw, to the uploaders: I appreciate the upload very much. Even with a compromised source, this music really takes me back. I can't wait for the game to be released.

Someone early on in the thread said something about some of the tracks' sounding terrible. They do from the original source as I have the disc from the special edition whatever box set that came from Square Enix. Track 52 (Macalania Woods) is especially terrible. Most of the loud tracks like Otherworld and whatnot are SEVERELY clipped. On the disc itself is a folder containing MP3s in a zip file. They aren't distorted and clipped. So, if the FLACs provided in this are from the 24-bit/96Khz audio tracks on the disc itself they're terrible-sounding and aren't worth the effort to download. You'd be better off with the MP3s.

To settle some rumors as well. The audio on the disc are 24-bit/96Khz STEREO Linear PCM files. They're amplified to hell and back and are clipped. The MP3s aren't.
