Tera de Marez Oyens graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory at the age of 20. Her subjects included piano, violin and conducting. She proceeded to study composition and orchestration with Hans Henkemans and electronic music with Gottfried Michael Koenig at the Institute of Sonology at the University of Utrecht. She has performed as a concert artist, conducted choirs and orchestras, produced music programs for radio, lectured on music and written on music education. Her book "Working With Modern Sound", was published in 1978 by Toorts, Haarlem, the Netherlands. But first and foremost, Tera de Marez Oyens is a composer with well over 200 works to her credit. They include orchestral, chamber and electronic compositions of which many have been commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Culture and Education, as well as by German and Dutch broadcasting networks.
