Hello fellas,

I was wondering if anyone has the rejected score from Romeo and Juliet, which was composed by James Horner. If so, I would like to hear it!

Was it ever even conducted, or finished?

I have no clue about that, but it doesn't matter, I simply would have liked to hear a glimpse of it...

Yes, James Horner Recorded the entire score, and was rejected after he recorded all the score.

The release for the album was for before it was rejected though, I suspect the release may have been cancelled due to that.

that's right Amanda.

Sony was the label to relase the comercial lbum until it was rejected

The score was not rejected in the usual sense.

What happened was Horner recorded the entire score, THEN the film went through a bunch of editorial changes. Horner was asked to re-score the film based on the changes to make the music fit, but he refused instead deciding to simply walk away from the film.

So, i hope the rejected score see the light in the future.

Perhaps unused score or alt score would better describe than rejected then. The unused score to Something Wicked was released long before the actual score was.....

Actually, a boot of Horner's SWTWC surfaced before the shitty sounding Delerue boot. Then the LaserDisc had an isolated score, so the complete Horner score was out, in better sound. Then a better sounding boot of Delerue's excellent score surfanced. Then great (though not perfect) sounding boot of Delerue's score finally leaked. Then a suite of the original recordings by Delerue was on a Delerue compilation (not counting the London Sessions re-recording). Then Intrada released Horner's score officially (though not complete). Then Universal France released the incomplete score by Delerue.

So, it was Horner first in both unofficial and official.

Roger (Intrada REcords head) posted that the Delerue score was recorded on the same medium as Horner's score and that we just have to wait -- eventually they'll do it and it will sound as great as their Horner release, not like the subpar, incomplete Universwal France one.

The true story of what happened on "Romeo and Juliet" has not leaked, unless JHFan has inside information.

Who's Delerue? What's this story about? I'm looking for the 2013's Romeo and Juliet, who finally got scored by Abel Korzeniowski...

We know what you want. But we are discussing whether it will happen. It was slated for release before composers changed. This has happened before and we were comparing that situation to this one.

There is no way horner's "rejected" score is available yet. Whether or not it will be is pure speculation. there is nothing else to tell you, so we were comparing notes on Something Wicked as a way to add at least some amount of actual fact in our speculations. If that does not interest you, then the short answer to your question is no. it is not available.

Every time somebody says they don't know who Delerue is, it makes baby Jesus cry.

Sorry, but I must confess to having never listened to anything of his...

I cannot wait for something to become available from James Horner's Romeo and Juliet. I pray to the film score/bootleg gods that something will be released sooner than later.

I didn't mean to ruin the story, I just didn't understand the point... I do now :p

I hope, hope, hope this is released someday! It still makes me sick that we may not hear it for a very long time, if ever.

Released as in official? I doubt it very very much. The album that was slated may not have actually been compiled or mastered. It would not really make sense to release the thing for a major label, at least not now. One of the specialty labels may get a bite at it in the future. IF it has been leaked in unofficial form, I have not heard.

Speculations, speculations.
