Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides OST 2011
Composed by Hans Zimmer

MP3 320

Hans Zimmer delivers a mild score for this entry in the franchise. On Stranger Tides has a great deal of rehashing and re-iterating though doesn't fail to give us a few boisterous and rollicking tracks. My favorite track which I can personally say is the only good thing about the score is 'Mermaids'. I think that's the sort of music Zimmer is good at in regards to building upon one simple idea.

Enjoy, this is one of the few things I can offer after two years of receiving scores from other people!

Discussion: What did you like or hate about this score? I hate the stupid remixes

At World's End is the real ZIMMER with more than six composers, they did something great.

On Stranger Tides is not ZIMMER i. mean (there's no score this time), but Rodrigo Y Gabriela and they blow it completely. Yea, i can say Blackbeard & Mermaids are only the good themes, ''The Pirate That Should Not Be & South Of Heaven's Chanting Mermaids'' we're a sh**y promotion for RyG and no need of them in POTC like the other rest.

The only track I call "hearable" is the first and the end titles but nothing original... Even the recording sessions it's difficult to have one favorite, it's all remixes from previous mixes. In the chase we can here 4 or 5 themes mixed together like a soap... I no longer expect something from the next movie

Yes, I saw the demo sessions out there and thought 'Why bother?' That's partly why in situations where I hate most of the score, I just grab a track from the standard ost.

I'm not a fan of the RCP group, I think they mainly just follow Lorne Balfe's somewhat mild talent.

I preferred the first 3 soundtracks over this one On Stranger Tides had alot of boring acoustic guitar music which wasn't in the film

Certainly the album was a promotion of the guitarists.

Didnt the demos get released almost as if to apologize for the dreadful OST release?

Thanks Plutopurto! Didn't think it would be so hard to find a nice, simple, downloadable version of this. I wouldn't say I hate the RyG stuff (I actually enjoy Spanish Flamenco guitar in and of itself) but it does seem rather out of place compared to the rest of the score. The remixes? No thanks. Having said that, I enjoy "Mermaids", "Blackbeard", and "On Stranger Tides" enough to really want this.

The remixes are horrid, but they were probably included to appeal to the casual consumer who might enjoy? such remixes of so-so, tracks to begin with!
