Who here agrees that VIII is the hardest final fantasy so far? I mean, the battle system (junctioning, etc.) sucks so you can't possibly win. And they base every boss battle on GF's and they make it so the end bosses (which I still HAVE NOT beaten) are immune to them (not immune, but it's not very effective).

Wow, here i thought it was the easiest one lol. If you work at it and level up its really easy.

Yes, the leveling up is easy (I got 4 characters up to level 100 in disc 2), but the bosses are so hard.

they're hard BECAUSE you level'd up.

the monsters levels adjust as you level up, once you get to 100 they're insane. the lower you are the better.

it's pretty damn easy if you draw the right spells and stay at low levels.

Thanks! I guess I should start over. I actually have done that before. I was a GF user so when I got to Adel... she rocked me EVERY time. I was on disc FOUR and I started over and got to the point that I am now (Ultimecia battle, which is impossible for me!). Well, at least it'll give me somethin to do. I mean, I've beaten 7,9, and 10. Thanks again, Sarah!

I always level up, but the monsters still aren't that hard if you know what you're doing. You just have to draw a lot of powerful and then junction to boost your stats. And use Meltdown on the later enemies, that really helps.

Yeah, I love the GF Doomtrain cuz he casts meltdown (I use that on ultimecia, i've tried to beat her like, 20 times!). I've always been good about leveling up, I get to a part in the game that I get completely stuck on, then (if I can) I level up, and if I can't, I start over and the rest of the game is a breeze. That's what happened with 9. I rented it a couple of years ago, got to Black Waltz No. 1 and the seal killed me every time. But, I bought it a couple of weeks ago and I WASTED that game! Of course, I DID use a guide on some parts, but I did NOT use a guide for any of disc 3 or 4 (which are the hardest). Whoa! Sorry to get off on another game.

I think FFVIII is the most challenging Final Fantasy on the Playstation. And that's why I like, it's a good challenge and I liked the fact that if your party got stronger then the monsters got stronger. As well as actually figuring out how to develop your party's abillities, strentghs, and weaknesses.
Just do what Agent 0042 said and use meltdown or Doomtrain on the monsters. Also use Aura on your charcters and do limit breaks.

The best way to beat Ultimecia is to use Card Mod and refine Laguna or Gilgamesh's card for ten Holy wars. This will then make you invincible for a fair period of time.
Remember to cast Aura before you cast Holy War though. You can find Aura draw points on Islands closest to Heaven and Hell, but use Diablos' Enc-None whilst venturing there, so you've no random encounters to worry about.
And if your not confused by all that, you'll beat her very easily.

Because you only need 1000 EXP to level up each time, you can actually get Squall up to Lv100 in the Balamb Garden Training centre. It just can take a long time.

Yeah, each time I start a new game, I level up Squall like to lv10 in the training center and after I get like to lv24 on the beach(The monsters that give you the most AP are here). And after I find out that Queztzacolt nearly is mastered and lv 30 lol.

eikofan69, please try not to post a reply after each comment. This is a forum, not a chat, and dialogue-form isn't good. XD

And for me, the game wasn't that hard. Only the end battle. It took me circa seven attempts, a week, to finally finish the end battle. Once I fought for five hours. Worst FFVIII player ever.

Wow what a cheap way to win...That basically sucks all the fun out of the game. This game was medium difficulty for me. Seven was easier and nine was harder (Only Necron but still...)

Are you kidding me!? necron is the easiest final boss ever( if I do say so myself)! I guess I did kinda cheat though; I got everyone up to at least level 50. I used Zidane, Garnet, Steiner, and Freya. I had Freya do Dragon's Crest. Then everyone (but Zidane) died and Zidane went Dyne and I killed Necron with Grand Lethal.

Gee... I don't remember dying in FFVIII except attempting to beat the T-Rexaur at the start of the game.

If you junction properly (and never use the magic), and have the right abilites it's the easiest of them all...

I take it that if you find Ultimecia hard you haven't fought Omega Weapon yet.

Leveling up to level 100 isn't that hard at all. Being level 100 -and- being strong, now that's a challenge. And the monsters adept to your level, so you really want to stay as low level as you can so you have time to work out your junction and use the Devour ability at it's best to improve your stats as much as you possibly can.

Agent0042
08-31-2004, 12:13 AM
Gah, no! Devour had to be the worst stat-maxing thing ever. I just used magic to boost my stats, that was all. I never bothered with Devour.

The only thing I found hard about ff VIII was the ability system... I was so confused with junctioning and stuff... Now I get it, I think!

I've beat this game several times without using that, it was for Eiko69's benefit that I posted a few easy tips to beat the last boss (read his first post)

And how does it suck the fun out of the game? Bollox.

Oh, and I slapped Necron round like a little bitch.
I pulled stuff out of my arse thats more complicated than FF9

I'm not mad, but I just thought I'd clear this:
I'm a MALE.
But yeah, like The Bear said,
"I slapped Necron around like a bitch"
I did that too :)

Junctioning is easy when you understand how you use it.

If you need to defend against sleep just junction 100 sleeps to your status defense. 100 = 100% defense.

When you've got it sorted the game becomes very simple. You can prepare for battle easily and providing you've levelled up enough and are strong enough then you'll have no problem.

Or maybe it's just me who didn't find it too hard!?
