Hi Petros! You're right about Mancinis work being awesome; I first noticed him during the Pink Panther-movies, and since then I've also listened to his "proteg�" Michel Legrand's work as well. "The Three Musketeers" is one of Legrand's best work, I think ;)

But this score I have never listened to.. is it possible to get a flac link, if I'm not too late?

This score is one of his best works.
His melodies are unsurpassed.

This score definitely has similarities with the Pink Panter.
Like the track "Giovanna" is similar to "It had better be tonight" from The Pink Panther, not bad nor better; just similar style.
You could say that this style of music is kinda like.. "Gentleman's music" - if there was a genre, that would be it. ;)

Or simply: gentle music.

Now i've heard of Sophia Loren (certainly of El Cid) and most certainly heard of Henry Manci ( Pink Panther, Charade,), but I haven't heard of The Sunflower. Would dearly love a link to this. Many thanks.

Just received your link, have downloaded and am listening to it now. Many thanks for this find.
I must have been 9 or 10 when I saw El Cid (by Miklos Rozsa), I was then a young lad who immediatly had the hots for Sophia Loren, and enjoyed epic battle films. Now that was lust. and then I fell in love with Audrey Hepburn and because music gets associated with your first true love I got to appreciate Henry Mancini.
Hence I never got to know of the film Sunflower. As a teenager you tend to steer away from pure romances and only later on in life you begin to appreciate well known things more (like Mancini's Breakfast at Tiffany's - also with Audrey Hepburn).
Listening to Sunflower, right now, it's actually epic in feel. I just love it.
Again many thanks for bringing this work to my attention.

We are almost the same age and we were both lucky.
We grew up watching those epic films and listening
to all those great composers.
However I do believe that those years were the most
pure and romantic in my entire life.
I am glad that you love "Sunflower".
