This is amazing. I had the one with static, and is it a night and day difference.
My only problem with it is that the tracks don't fade out at the end. They just...end. It's very jarring. I think there is software that would allow me to do that, but I'm not good with music software.

Thank you very much for your work nonetheless!

Yeah, it's quite a bother! It's mostly because of the method used. There are no loop points to work from at all.

Fortunately, I managed to manually fix most of the tracks and I'll be uploading the updated version really soon on MP3. I'll upload the FLAC update in a couple of hours, as I really need to get some sleep. :P

Edit: Okay, all done. If there's any problems let me know. :)

Gonna have to second this, would be great to have this done to other GBA games like Donkey Kong Country 3, since the songs there are exclusive only to the gameboy advance version :P

The basic answer to "how it was done" is:

MIDIs ripped from the ROM
High quality samples ripped from the ROM, made into a soundfont

MIDIs played in said soundfont
Other examples of how this sounds for other games:
Desert - New Super Mario Bros. Music Extended - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_pguaNsCyg) (using MIDIs and soundfonts)
New Super Mario Bros - Walking The Hot Desert Music Msica - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdUD93ouUV0) (from the bad quality rip that probably originated on the original SilvaGunner's channel years ago)

If it were only possible for a few other games, I'll be glad. If I had to pick one track to do this it would be... hmn... only one that comes to mind is from Yu-Gi-Oh! Most of these songs sound brilliant, but all the boss music is sadly almost unlistenable because the mono 8-bit percussion is far too loud and dominates the sound. It's probably way too late to ask for a remastering with the percussion toned down, but you never know.

I don't notice this what are you using to listen to it, seems maybe a little louder but not unlistenable by any means.

Most of these songs sound brilliant, but all the boss music is sadly almost unlistenable because the mono 8-bit percussion is far too loud and dominates the sound. It's probably way too late to ask for a remastering with the percussion toned down, but you never know.

With GBA that's sadly it, GSF is most accurate but the output is limited by the GBA hardware, while SF2+MIDI sounds better but is prone to inaccuracies. If possible, it's usually worth it though.
