PS3 Version now available! Links below.

It's here! I collected all the 4-channel music from the game and mixed it into this surround FLAC soundtrack. Composer Dan "Toasty!" Forden said in the PlayStation blog:
Matt Grimm mixed all the music in quad (four speakers), so fire up your surround sound system to hear how immersive the musical experience is.

Most of the music in the game was available in surround. The Legacy tracks, Kratos' theme and some menu/cutscenes music were only available in stereo and thus were not included. You can grab them from Alpha23's LWAV rip (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/video-game-music-preservation-project-119745/6.html#post2081297) or !!!!!'s FLAC rip (Thread 121528).

The files are 4.0-channel FLAC, meaning they will utilize your front L/R and back L/R speakers. If you own a 5.1 system, the center and subwoofer speakers will not be used.

Process:
XBox 360 Version:
The .xxx archives were ripped using VGMToolbox and the archived .fsb's were extracted with fsbii. The .fsb's were converted to .xma using xmash and the .xma's were converted to .wav with ToWAV. The files were merged to multi-channel FLAC's using Audacity.

PS3 Version:
Same as above, except the .fsb's were taken straight to ToWAV after being extracted with fsbii, as the PS3 version does not use the XMA codec.

Nice. But why files were taken from Xbox 360 version, not PS3? PS3 has much better quality.

The sound assets were the same in both versions. I compared the Nekropolis track from my Xbox 360 rip with the one from Alpha23's PS3 rip and the waveforms were identical. I used the Xbox version because I couldn't decode or convert the 4-channel LWAV's from Alpha23's rip.

(edit: yeah, I know Nekropolis isn't on my compilation. Again, it's because it's in stereo, both in Xbox and PS3)

Ok. I hope this will be enough:

As long as I remember PS3's files were 2-3 times bigger.
Alpha's rip is from komplete edition. Maybe that's because of it.

No, I doubt my media players having trouble decoding the 4-channel lwavs was because the files were from the Komplete Edition. Anyway, I'll try ripping the PS3 files myself. If it does turn out to be better, I will update my first post with a new version of the soundtrack. Thank you.

Okay, this is beyond infuriating. With PS3 files I had the same troubles as the PC files. I can either only extract the front channels or extract pure noise.

EDIT: I found how to do it. PS3 version coming soon...
