Big fan of Final Fantasy but I'm starting to find the main scenario quests boring and tedious. I'm level 30 and it seems that most of the quests consist of talk to this person, talk to that person, interact with an object, maybe fight 2-3 enemies, talk to someone, teleport, talk to another person...

Whats worse is you have to constantly travel across the globe to talk to this person, just to travel back 10 seconds later.

This comic really describes how I feel:

Final Fantasy MMORPG - Quest Fetcher | 8BitGamer (http://www.8bitgamer.com/comic/final-fantasy-mmorpg-quest-fetcher/)

Thoughts on this? I don't mind questing but the mandatory questing is...a pain.

I presume you're referring to FFXIV A Realm Reborn, and yes, FFXIV is heavily story-based (it's a FF game after all), like FFXI before it. However, the storyline is executed in this way as a concession to gameplay as questing is the main source of exp in the game. Unfortunately to stretch the storyline out a lot of those quests are just filler for the main storyline - boring fetch quests and the like (the section of the storyline prior to facing Titan around level 28-34 is particularly dull and mediocre).

At least early on in the game it's perhaps justified with the player being sent on fetch quests - they're a foreigner recently arrived in Eorzea, a realm that is still recovering from a devastating event (an event caused by foreign powers too at that), and thus trust towards strangers is hard-earned, so the player starts at the logical point - the bottom, and has to work their way up by building a rapport with the townspeople of their starting city. Only once the player shows they can be trusted will they be given tasks of far greater importance.

Anyway, don't be discouraged, as the storyline does get far better once Titan is finally defeated (not to mention more darker and jaundiced as well).

It does pick up eventually, but the story is quite good if you're into it. I'm disappointed they didn't fully voice every cutscene in the Main Scenario, but oh well.

From 35-50 the game starts getting a lot more challenging, and endgame can be ball-bustingly difficult (I was stuck on Hard Mode Garuda for 3 weeks, now stuck on Hard Mode Titan, ugh) Keep at it, and you'll find a deep and satisfying game. It just takes a while to get there.

From what I can gather Purrr, the reason that not all cutscenes has voiced dialogue is simply because the characters directly refer to your character by name - an impossibility otherwise if voice acting was used throughout the whole game (after all, it's why in the end scene the player is just referred to by the generic term of 'champion' or 'warrior of light'). Considering most of the voice acting that is in the game is meh (I especially hate Minfilia's voice actress - that is not how I expected her to sound at all), it's not something I'm that upset over really.

And besides, less voiced dialogue means they save money which can be better spent on actual content rather than bells and whistles. ;)

Yeah that could be the case Enki, and really once you finish the main scenario and move onto the true endgame, who cares about voice acting?

I got my relic weapon last week for BLM (yay) and am now raiding Coil.

I am also leveling PLD atm which is currently level 43.
