WAR OF THE WORLDS (1953, laserdisc M&E) LEITH STEVENS
Extensively edited music & effects analog track from laserdisc. Average to poor quality. Volume got lower as movie progressed, and raising it increased hiss. The main reason for having this would be to fill in the missing cues on the retail CD, although some non-dialog scenes might be better sourced from the dvd than this M&E.

As suggested, a better soundtrack could be made by combining tracks from this with the music-only releases and even rips from the dvd. This wasnt intended to be "the best" version, but one more source for fans to utilize. I agree, it's disappointing quality, but the raw laser recording was worse.
Most music/effects tracks are fairly old and poor quality, but this was worse in one particular way- the volume level kept dropping as it played. Raising it up unavoidably brought up the hiss. Except for 2 spots, I left the hiss alone so downloaders could fix it as they pleased.
I removed effects when I could, but this film naturally has alot.
Not sure what you mean by "short tracks" - the track list is posted with duration times, and this is the music as heard in the film, except for the first track which I split in two for navigation purposes, and moving the square dance cue.
