Mandy Moore stars as Anna Foster, the 18-year-old daughter of President of the United States James Foster (Mark Harmon). Anna has led quite a privileged life, but she has grown to resist the constant presence of Secret Service agents getting in the way of her independence. While on a family trip to Europe, Anna manages to get away from security for a brief time. She inevitably falls into the romantic arms of British boy Ben Calder (Matthew Goode), with whom she enjoys a fresh and clean European vacation.
Nominated for the World Soundtrack Award in 2004, the Chasing Liberty complete soundtrack has it all; Rap, Country, Pop, Rock, Techno and Score music.
You'll find bouncy favorites such as "The Seed" by the Legenday Roots and "Get Busy" by Sean Paul,Rock music such as "Stop The Rock" by Apollo 440 and "An American Girl" by Tom Petty. Sultry music such as "Life Will Go On" by Chris Isaak and the teary eyed "If I'm Not In Love" by Faith Hill.
What makes this album complete is the (somewhat forgotten) background score by Christian Henson. Full with delicate folk guitar and piano tracks, the background music brilliantly enhances the sensitivity of the film.
"So Will You Please Get Into Bed" and "I'm Jealous As Hell, Where The Hell Have You Been" are subtly played behind the scenes.
So far I've been unable to obtain a decent copy of Seventhsun's Melody; the rip from the movie contains some noise.
If anyone has a copy to share, please PM me.
Rounding out this soundtrack is the climactic opera track "Nessun Dorma" sung by Amici Forever. While a few tracks have FX, they are not overwhelming. I think you'll really enjoy this one.
