How is it possible that Auron has been guardian for lord Braska and traveled the world but at the same time is pretty weak in the beginning of the game, compaired to how strong your team is at the end of the game?

he couldn'be too strong otherwise the challenge would have vanished. for the sake of the game square put him on the same level as the others. i don't think you can elaborate too much on this subject.

Yeah, I think you are overthinking this. Square had to make him like that so you don't start off with a godlike character. Other than that, there's really no explanation. Maybe the fiends were so much easier back then? Or when you travel to and from Zanarkand, it weakens you (like how Tidus is able to knock a player out fo the blitz pool early in the game, but in Spira, his tackling is weak).

I think it's that when Auron died he had to start back at the beggining.

Sure that's the gameplay reason, Arcadius, but trying to find or make up an explanation that ties in with the story is just more fun. ;)

When he's on top of Zanarkand at the start of the game he falls off and gets a serious concusion, therefore forgetting everything he's learnt so far, amazingly it's only his gaurdian abilities that he forgets.

I know why they did it for the game. But what happenend to him that makes him so weak?

Indeed maybe the fiends were weaker, but then still he would be stronger so he must have lost some of his strength...

Being an unsent, most of his energies might be used to keep himself together, therefore, his stats and abilities suffer and need to be brought back up.

Or, he may have drunk a little bit too much, and forgot how to fight. That's why, he needs spheres to learn new ODs.

It seems like there are always some characters in an FF game that make me wonder like this. One character's backstory will have them being some super skilled fighter that's trained for years to become as powerful as them, and then you'll have someone else in your party who's never fought a day in their lives, and they'll pretty much be on par with them.

I understand why and all, but it does seem a bit weird.

well one of his battle quotes is :"there were fewer fiends in my time" so maybe he fought a lesser number of fiends than the guardians nowadays so he's not considered that strong by us. you know as if the standards had gone up since then. maybe in braska's time he was considered as a really strong guardian but now... a bit confusing but couldn't come up with something better.

That sounds logical. That and him being unsent vould be the answers!!

But then again you kill Seymour in the game and he only gets stronger and stronger... But he is a freak anyway cause he morphs in strange beings...

I agree, he is cool enough as he is. But it would be kinda cool to see him Morph into something as like his final overdrive, instead of it being what it is.....which i can't remember right now :D

Unsent, didn't fight for 10 ten years. Even though, they still made seem stronger since he could kill the Vouivre with a single attack in his first battle and dealt more damage than Kimahri when they both had piercing.

If Auron had maxed out stats or close to maxed out stats at the beginning of the game, it wouldn't be much of a game would it?

well he's getting older and everything...at my point of the game rikku almost had the most hp so far.
