ive alot of magasenes, and they all say that the game was a great hit! but it didnt get as high a rating as it should of got, because of squall(which personaly i think is a load of bull), they said that his cold heartedness and the way he acted was a put off.....

personaly i think thats bull.....i liked squall....liked his attitude...

what do you think?

squall is as complex as all the other ff heros with the exception of being a ff hero without blonde hair he has an attudiude of he dont need anyone but rinoa opens him to be carring and kind so he is really good i think

he definetly wasnt a put off but they definetly could've done him better. like he is a very complex charecter but he doesnt really have a reason to be complex until further into the game.

Squall could have been done better? Not at all. I think he is closer to reality then any other FF main character. His personality, attitude and way of thinking actually appeals to alot of people around that age. That gives a more personal feel to the game. In my oppinion Squall is one of the better main characters.

A good thing about Squall is that on FFVIII you are able to explore Squalls thoughts as well as what he says.
Plus his personaliity is similar to mine - a bit ignorant at times. that is.

I guess it all depends on how the gamer relates to the issues etc. shown in each FF game. The first time I played FFVIII was when I was about 14 years old. I didn't really understand the story at that time. now that I'm 17, I've noticed that I can relate to the characters and the situations they get into. Especially Squall's.

Squall is one of my favorite FF heroes of all time. His character was wonderfully developed. I feel that Squall and Tidus are probably the two most realistic FF characters, and I personally prefer Squall over Tidus.

So, to answer your question- no. Not a put off at all.

i started playing FF when i was 8......so i didnt really get it(FF8 was my first FF game and i respect it tremendously, so i dont want those magasenes trashing it!) even though im only 13 i kinda get the story and i get squall sit. too......but i dont think ill fully understand it untill im older....

Ya that gunblade was pretty damn nice. Look at all the other ff characters they only use normal swords. *points finger and laughs
Well it would be nice if gunblades really existed, "slash and gash shoot a hole in yo ass."

Cloud and Squall are my favorite FF heroes. They're both pretty well-done characters. Tidus and Zidane kind of bugged.

yea i never thought about that, that squall is the only one with out blonde hair. i dont really like tidus but zidane is alright hes a main character and he doesnt weild a sword like most

I think they expanded their horizons a little bit, not all the characters have to be happy cheerful little suck ups. Squall stands out among the characters. Shuyin's cool too

I think Squall was the most realistic character of the final fantasies. It just goes to show that life isn't as happy and fake and "everythings gonna turn out okay!" as people make it seem. I really liked squall and I dont mind his attitude and jerkness, I like people like that. Besides, he turned into an almost new person by the end of the game.

I thought the cold attitude was what made people like him. Most fans of the game would say he's their favourite character. (Besides, wasn't Cloud a little distant, too?)

What usually turns people off of FF8 is the love story.

I identified with Squall, so he wasn't a put-off for me.

I don't think he was a put off, because he changes through out the game. He gradually loosens up.

Squall was not a put off at all. He was complex, and that made him interesting. From what Ive seen Squall is the most interesting character in all the Final Fantasies, I guess because its easier to relate to him. I certinatly can relate, hes a loner, and perfers to be that way. Im like that many times as well.

You're right, Squall was complex, which made him interesting.

Cloud, eh, a little too complex, yet I still love Cloud. Squall gave a dose of real life to the final fantasy series. He also show'd how a person can change. I think his personality was very much needed in one of the ff's, so it might as well have been VIII. I like loners, so I like Squall.

squall? a put off?!

sacrilege!!!!!!

hehe  well he really wasnt. *shruggles* magazine critics can say whatever they want -- we're all entitled to our own opinions. but no i dont think he was a put off at all. the way he behaved was really interesting actually, and intrigued me.

though when i played FF8 the very first time, i was like *jaw drop* when he told Quistis to go talk to a wall :P
