After Aeris's death, Cloud has a conversation with someone (Tifa?) and he said:

"If you guys hadn't shown up, Aeris could have"

What was he trying to say? Wouldn't he say, "I could have etc" if referring to what he could have done to Aeris. That's not how it sounds. Of course it's possible that the way the translation was done, it would be "Aeris could have died at my hand" but that doesn't seem likely.

Weird.

I just played through that part of the game a couple of days ago, and i really thought he said: "I" instead of "Aeris"

Really? Maybe I was wrong then. I made this post when I was tired lol. I forgot exactly where it took place but if you tell me, I should have a save near there.

No, here's what he said:

"There is a part of me that I don't
understand. That part that made me give the Black Materia to Sephiroth. If you
hadn't stopped me, Aerismight have been......"

I like the sephiroth x aeris idea... there's an amano art of them together. It would've been even more tragic if they had something going with eachother when he was sane. I doubt it tho.. some say it's possible.

Oh!! Sephy x Aeris!! I love the idea of that coupling as much as I love Cloud x Aeris and Zack x Aeris. Those men are just gorgeous.. *sighs*

Oh, I forgot. Does anyone know how to do THAT? *points at Aerith vs. Sephiroth pic*.

yes i know.

If you have a game shark you can play with Aeris even after disc 1
(just enter the correct cheat code)

Why do people insist on calling her Aerith?

It is very, very, very clearly Aeris. Just look right there on that screenshot:

Name
Kuraudo
Earisu
Yufi

So that makes
Name
Cloud
AeriS
Yuffie

=\

If you have the PC version, it's even easier. You can just edit her into the game using one of the easily available, highly useful editors.

I can read Japanese...gotta go with "Aeris", the pronounciation of the "katakana" used for her fits with "Aeris" more than "Aerith".

Of course it may be that she was officially "Aerith" in Japan, honestly I dunno because I played the US version of the game.

Aeris is officially "Aerith" in the Japanese version. Therefore I think we need to learn to accept both versions of her names although I do prefer "Aeris".

Japanese people aren't known for being excellent at English, just look at www.engrish.com :D

Edit: Barrett is even worse..."BEREIT"

It's actually Aerith in Japanese. The reason why Aerith was called "Aeris" was because Japanese people don't know how to pronounce and spell "th". For instance, they keep pronouncing "thank you" as "Sankyuu". Though for moi, I much prefer to call her "Aeris" than Aerith (try inputing her name on babel translator, her name would translate as "Air lith" in english)

I could read katakana too, and yes, Aerith's name was spelled as e-a-ri-SU, but Septhiroth name was also spelled the same as se-fi-ro-SU, but still, the translation in English was Sephiroth and not Sephiros (though if you listen to the one-winged angel orchestra, they all yelled "SEPHIROS!!")

Game shark?? I don't think you could revive Aeris using Game shark. I got the pic from a Japanese site and it says something like.... FF7 Saga Frontier? Looks like a CD.

Aeris can be hacked into an FFVII Disc 2 or 3 savefile using either Gameshark or a PC savefile editor. She won't show up on the Highwind and may be unavailable at certain times, but she can be included in your battle party.
