so people tell me what was the first anime or manga you�ve seen or read or the first when you new it was one or the best you�ve ever known.
my first manga was sailor moon my first anime Grendizer and Mila

This was probably my first anime (http://www.pankraz.de/maja2.htm). A long time ago.


The first anime I watched consciously was Ghost in the Shell. I didn't like it. That was on January 1, 2000.

My first manga was Rurouni Kenshin, volume 4, in French, probably on April 7, 2000. Love at first sight.

the first anime I watched conciously was "Tarou the dragon boy". I don't remember the year... but around 84-86. My cousin lived in japan and would always tell me about the cartoons out there and bring tapes. He was big into Kinnikuman, having been very young at the time.

First comic... I have no idea. I was getting the release of Akira that was put out by Epic a little while after they came out. That was one of the first series I collected, being at the age where I could afford such things with some regularity. I had some gotten some books before that though.

Actually... I remember now.I think my first comic was "Blood Sword". I got it in 1987 or 88 or so. It was a Thai comic. Kind of like the hong kong comics, it had an art style that leaned somewhat towards realism and was in color. It was really cool.

Tenchi muyo/dragon ball z were my fist animes....i liked tenchi muyo better though

There were all sorts of things I saw as a kid that I just assumed were american- some Hello Kitty stuff, Dragon Ball, Battle of the Planets. . .

But the first anime/manga that I got into, knowing full well what it was, was Sailor Moon.

ive seen salior moon once or twice....i prefered cardcaptors though. zoids, yu-gi-ho, and salior moon.......i can think of dozens like them....

DBZ was the first anime show I saw. Then after that, all kinds of stuff. I love zoids, used to like Yu-Gi-Oh (go ahead, shoot me), I still like DBZ, never liked Sailor Moon, kinda liked Cardcaptors and...yeah.

Although I don't remember which was the first, I know it to be one of these two. 8 Man, or the first 3 episodes of Record of Lodoss War. That was so long ago, back when the Sci-Fi channel used to play an anime movie every saturday morning. There might have been others I saw before those two, but these were the first I really liked.

The first anime I ever saw understanding what I was watching was Devil Hunter Yohko. I forget exactly when that was, but it was in the mid-to-late 90's, long before there was even an english dub of it.

My first experience with anime was actually way back when I was a wee lad. Coulda been as early as 1984. I used to watch Robotech and Star Blazers religiously.

The very first anime I ever saw was Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo:2040.

The first manga I ever read was Saber Marionette J .

i havent seen much anime....still love it though!!

i never new what anime or manga was till my big brothers started to bring some and tell me what that anime and manga means. then i knew that grendizer was also on.
when i was about a year old my father brought them in saudi arabia and gave them as a gift to my brother.

i know what anime is...it means 'adult cartoon'...but i dont know what manga is...is it the baby japanese cartoons? like salior moon and zoids??

Yes.

anime are that catoons what comes in tv and manga are that one you read and mostly they are drawn black and whit. there are also many manga for "old" people. i could imagen that today there are in japan more anime for littel kinds then manga because all that really littel kids are sitting in front of the tv.

Anime is just Japanese for animation. If it's animated, it's anime.

Manga are comics.

yeps that correct manga means if you translate it worldly something liek collored pictures and anime like you said is everything that is animated. But today many poeple use the words anime and manga if they mean jsut that japanis cartoons in tv or comics. for sure you can�t say anime or manga are just for littel kids or something like that. for example Akira, i think, isn�t something kids should watch.

i've seen neither....i dont think he said it was bad....just not for little kiddies(10-)isnt it an 18? i though that anime meant adult cartoon/cartoon in japanese....i didnt even know what manga was till i came here....comics....okay i can live with that!

As much as I remember the first anime I saw was Astro Boy, Voltron and Mysterious Cities of Gold back in the mid to late 80's (yes, that long ago). And I've been watching anime ever since.

As for manga, I didn't start getting it until much later. I think my first manga was Galaxy Express 999, which used to be serialised in Animerica magazine, but Oh, My Goddess! was the first manga I actually purchased.

The first anime... I'd have to agree with Enkidoh here. Astro Boy (which I did love, now I hate.), Mysterious cities of gold (which is great) and Voltron (Vehicle force Voltron that is. HATE the lion Voltron.).

The first manga... Love Hina. Then Oh! My Goddess (The Fourth Goddess volume), Sarai and Neon Genesis Evangelion. I've read a issue of the Dirty Pair (Thanks Enkidoh) as well.

i've never seen any of them....apart from neon genisis.....does anyone know what Gasaraki is? i think its an anime...probebly the only anime we have over here at the moment...is ark the lad an anime too?

Gasaraki is pure suck, if you ask me. I don't know a single person who actually liked it.

There is an Arc the Lad anime series, but I don't know much about it except that it has very little to do with the games.

The first anime show i watched wuz Dragon Ball.

The first anime I've seen was probably Voltes V. They used to called it mecha.

As for manga, all I have is the Ragnarok manga. Nah, it's not even called a manga but manwha coz' it's from Korea.

My first was Inuyasha and of course i liked it its my favorite anime and my favorite manga.

do you think old anime/manga are better or the new?
i�m not really sure, if i think of the old once they got somehow individuell storylines and even if the drawing is "simple" they can look somehow great. if i look at the new stuff there are so many on the market, a lot of them got the same storylines or much like another and then sometimes a new way of drawing but lookreally stupid.

My first anime was Sailor Moon that a friend showed me when I was little (my friend is like 10 years older then me ;)). It still holds a special place in my heart for anime (and I still like it). By now, I've watched dozens of more animes. Now, my faovurite genre are Shoujo and Comedy/Romance.

My first manga was something called "Ironfist Chinmi", which I read when I was like 5. The first volume. I'm reading the third one now. ;)

I think Sword for Truth is better than Golgo 13! They have lesbian sex scenes for no apparent reason when the narrator is going over important plot points. =) Oh, and the guy ripped this womans clothes off in public, so she pays him a sex visit in order to thank him.

And then it just ends seemingly one quarter of the way through the plot. =)

my first anime was DBZ and my first Manga was sailor moon :)

the first anime i watched was Card Captor Sakura and DB.the first manga i sarted with was probaly Marmalaid boy.;)

Is CardCaptor Sakura different from CardCaptors? because i first watched cardcaptors, then i watched DBZ then TENCHI MUYO!!! lol and a whole lot of other baby animes. Neon Genisis Evangelion, The Martion Successor Nadesico, Ark the Lad, Gasaraki, Tenchi Muyo and the Z.O.E series (that has just came out here) are the only true animes i've seen, by true i mean not like pokemon and digimon and yu-gi-ho etc.

Nope; CardCaptors and CardCaptor Sakura are the same, but CardCaptors is the Americanized and English version of CardCaptor Sakura.

Then my second anime was Iczer One.

I watched ThunderCats a long time ago, so I guess that was the first! But when I was about 12 or so, I watched Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and most of Fist of the North Star, so they are what got me into it originally

i've seen sailor moon before! it was on before zoids, it was on at 6 in the morning, so i forced myself to get up at half 5 (when sailor moon was on) but i went to bed after that ^_^ um...sailor moon...was it like 3 girls and one is sailor moon, and then sailor star and then sailor sun? something like that! i really only remember the start of the anime...and the theme..., 'she's the one they call salior moon' or something, my minds foggy, it ws quite awhile ago ;)

Season one of Sailor Moon originally had five Sailor Scouts: Sailor Moon, Sailor Mars, Sailor Mercurey, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus.

The other planets came out as the seasons passed; then there are even more sailor senshi(meaning Sailor Soldiers/Scouots in Japan), in the Star Series. Yes, Sailor Moon was way before Zoids!

The first anime I ever saw was Yu-Gi-Oh and the first manga I ever read was one called King Of Hell, now that was one cool manga.

My first anime was Robotech - I used to watch that show every morning before school. I remember being so cut when they replaced it with Sailor Moon - WITHOUT FINISHING THE STORY ARC.

I just bought the Macross Saga on DVD, so I can finally see how it ends :(

I also have to admit that i've never read a Manga - i'd really like to get into it though. You could sort of count Megatokyo as a Manga - I started reading that today from the start. Sure, it may be written by an American fanboy, but it's good :D

I think my first anime was either Sailor moon or cardcaptors i know there stupid but cardcaptors had potential... i neva regret watchin sailor moon thought.... All those girls in tight small miniskirts:D

oh! i watched Cardcaptors! but they didn't show the final episode!!! XO :'( I HATED THEM!!! i never got to see what happened :'(
