Ok, I just finished this game with 40 hours on the clock and yet I still don't know what the heck the "Promised Land" is.

"Let's meet her (Aeris) in the Promised Land"...a quote from the ending movie...

The puzzle thickens inside my head...

Heaven?

Is my personal theory, because I like simple and obvious solutions better than interpreting anything cool and complicated into a single line said at the end of a game~

THe promised land is the place where the Cetra go, after fullfilling their task.

So normal humans should not be able to get there right??

So i think (like Tokiko) that it is the heaven equivalent for the Cetra.

I think, everybody can go there, but only the Cetra call it "Promised Land". Their faith is just differently.

I mean, what are the "normal humans"? Aren't the Cetra their ancestors maybe? And what did Bugenhagen explain about the planets and everything? And about what's going to happen when somebody dies? Don't they all go back to the planet? They all meet in the same lifestream, don't they?

I believe, the "Promised Land" is like the heaven is to us (Tokiko mentioned it already)

And I believe, everybody can go there. The "normal humans" just didn't grow up with that. Nobody taught them about it, so they forgot....

Cloud understood at the end, that's why he said "Let's meet her there...." ;)

What is the Promised Land? It's a place where peace can be found, like heaven as suggested already. It's FF7's equivalent of that ultimate destination. :)

Of course other's have said that, but I still couldn't help but say it myself. :)

Some where in the game Rufus says that the promise land is a land rich in mako. There4 i think its midgar. THat wouls explain y aeris ghost is there (if u get the key)

you see this orb? well that's a vision of the promesie land that's why cloud says"let meet her there" that's why in finla fantasy tactics he says "i need to go there" "i need to go to the promesie land" beacuse he knows where it is XD well that's my theory, you see clouds in the image because the promesie land is the earth the earth with out sephiroth wiht out jenova the promesie land for the ancienst the promesie land the anciesnt made for the humans XD that's why the promasie land is no ones and is full of mako energy because the earth is the promesie land

The Promise Land is suppose to be a place of supreme happiness or where happiness is suppose to be given or found. Cloud never did say in the end of the game, "...let's go meet her.".. That's what Tifa says.
Cloud says: "An answer from the planet. The Promised Land. I think I can meet her...there."
It seems Cloud finally understand that meaning that Aeris gave to the group and he's going to meet her there because she is his light. He stated "I", as in himself and him only to find Aeris. Cloud is probably the only one who can find and enter it since he did fought against Sephiroth and have some sort of knowledge on it.

The promised land is a land of supreme happiness. You don't look for it, you just feel it and know when you're there..That's what Aeris says in the Shinra building, something along those lines. So it's like, heaven basically. So it's like your most loved and cherishable thing, or something like that. So I'm guessing Cloud wanted to meet her there, cuz he wanted to see his friend again. Clear things up after her death, it was all so fast.:)

Well in ff10-2 they clear up this up a bit. i believe the promise land is just the same as the farplane coz in 10-2 if u return 2 the airship after reachin the farplane abyiss (soory if thats spelt wrong) shinra claims 2 hav found an energy source in the farplane (which he describes as a lifesream) which could be used 2 power cities and towns and isnt that wot the shinra company wanted 2 get 2 the promise land 4, so that could use its energy 4 power????

I think 10 and 10-2 are set b4 ff7 coz i think the shinra corp is named after shinra ( i know its farfetched but it makes sense 2 me ) because he found how 2 take energy from the lifesream and isnt that wot the shinra corp did

i think the most logical interpretation (for me) is that the Promised Land is somewhere you feel good, a personal heaven that differs with each person or race. i don't know what the Promised Land was for the Ancients or Cetra but for rufus and the shinra it was the Northern Crater since it was full of mako.
that's what i think anyway.

That would explain my mutual dislike for the two.

But I seriously doubt it.

MY THEORY:

Well, the promised land is the source of the Lifestream. SInce infinite Mako energy exists there, it makes sense- if Lifestream is the blood of the planet, the promised land is the heart. It would also make sense becuase if the Cetra lived there, they would have that mako energy available ("they lived to raise mako energy", in-game quote)

ok I have reasons 2 believe that the promise land is the same as the farplane in ff 10-2

I've noticed a lot of religious metephors in this game. I think the promised land represents a kind of heaven in this game.

It does sound like a kind of heaven, maybe it is.
