I have seen small versions of this argument in some threads, so i thought i would continue it in the FFIX thread.
So is it...?
It is definately sa good game and nowadays people think it is poor. It is just becuase square was stupid to release it in the period before the playstartion 2 was released?

The people I know either say it was too cartoony or too childish for the most part. A couple of them said they hated it because Kuja was too effeminate and immediately compared him to Sephiroth, who they feel was very manly. As if. I've even heard one say it was lame because it wasn't futuristic. (WTF?!)

I loved it myself. So what if it's a bit on the cartoony side? Weren't a lot of earlier FFs the same way? Kuja was actually a pretty sinister villain, even if he did look a bit girly, and his plans were among the most despicable of any FF villain.

The time of its release might have counted against it, but I think what hurt it the most was the fact that FFVII had brought in a new generation of rabid fanboys who jumped on the bandwagon without understanding the roots of the FF series. And for a game as rooted in FF history as IX, that was a pretty harsh blow.

Final Fantasy IX was my favorite so far. Okay, Final Fantasy X had Auron but FFIX was more fun. I mean, I wasnt so sad after finishing it. =)
It has beautiful character designs and wonderful music.
Kuja had somewhat a personalitiy of wich I cant find any in Sephiroth.
The love story was also nice. And cmon, Vivi was so cute! !

Many great cutscenes as well, remember Bahamut or Alexander!
=D

Its sad that there are people who didnt like it. They didnt understand the game... =_= Sad, sad, sad!

"Lady Auron"

I have to agree...FFIX was definately my favorite of the series. An excellent plot that wasn't nearly as brooding as FFX's, plus excellent cinematics and a unique art style made this game gorgeous in more ways than one.
