I thought there could be a FFS writing competition which includes anything that can be written really and anyone can join. You can have let's say a month(it's very long cos special might need that long if they are writing a long story like me)and the Shriners that aren't in the competition vote the winner. Please PM me if you're interested or simply post in this thread.

Hey.... i'm brand new here, but I'd love to join. When are the stories due, and do they have to be fanfics or can they be of original creation? I do better at originality, but if you want fanfics, then I can do those as well.

This is kinda going off what Xenochick asked, but are the stories due one month after we signed up or one month since you started the competition? Like mine would have to be done by 2-27 if the former or 2-26 if the latter. One day can make a difference.

Epyon you can be a judge. The story thread will be open on the 17th of February letting people have time to post up their stories before the due date. There is no limit in words so the contest can fit everyone.

I will join, although being new here I dunno when this was started and when it is spose to finish. I mean I can post mine bit by bit but I am sure you want it all in one. If you could post when this all begins and ends I can make my decision then, either way I will still work on my fic and post it at a latter date if need be and not in the contest.

Maybe we should make a few different 'categories' for decided the winners. Such as, 'Poetry', 'Fan Fiction', 'Original' and 'Overall'. I think it will be hard to compare a short poem to some of these huge Final Fantasy Fanfics... but that's just my thinking.

Plus if we're going to do it that way, I might submit a poem of mine... old and I've posted it before, but I like it so... yeah. :D Also, advertise in your signature with a link here if you're giving another week... it might actually draw some more competition.

In here you post whether you would like to be a participant or a judge. We'll give you a month to write you're story (poem, etc), so all entries are due July 10th. I'll open a thread later on where people can enter in their stories and such. If everyone is really pressed for time, we might give an extra week for everyone to finish up. But the problem is the judging system. Last time we had a writing competition, some people thought it wasn't fair that the stories weren't graded in categories. So...anyone know a good judging system? :D

That's great Terra, really. It's just that the last time we did a writing competition, people complained about the judging system. We can't start it unless someone figures out a good judging system or if you're willing to let us judge your stories like we did last time.

Last time, when Arwen(Nozomi) was judging with a few other people, they judged it basically on which they liked the best(not a great judging system, but we were having the stories just for fun, ya know?). I got first and Cloud got second. Then someone said that the judging wasn't fair and that we should have categories, like Grammar, Spelling, Content, etc. I don't know much about how to judge stories in categories, so I really need help if this is how you want the stories to be judged. (Phew!) :D

I'm not sure how much help I could be in developing a judging system, but I'm willing to try. My best guess is that it all comes down to organization in the end.

Make sure to turn in your stories before the end of the month. Nozomi, Cloud, and I will be the judges. Stories can be as long as you want them to be and they don't have to be about Final Fantasy if you don't want them to be. Also, anyone can be a participant.. Just make sure to post in here that you will be participating in the competition before you post your story in the 'Writing Competition #2 ^_^' thread.

I think we'll go with Cloud's idea on judging it by length, spelling, content and presentation. I think we should also judge it by expression of the character's feelings and stuff...I'm not sure what it's called...what do you guys think?

Now...oh yeah, how about we all judge each story by length, spelling, content, presentation, and character development from a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the very best) and we'll send the results to one of us to average the scores and get a winner? I was thinking that Nozomi could do the averaging and stuff since she started this thread a long time before.

Err...I don't know if I can finish my story before the deadline if I were to enter. What is the maximum length, like in pages of letter sized paper or something or number of words. Otherwise I might have to just enter my best poem which is already done.
