Their is several arguments over the correct pronounciation of Magus' name. Personally I beleive it is "M-a-jus". And I'm nearly %100 sure it is. But the thought of me being wrong still lingers in my head. Whats you guys' opinion?

There really isn't much of a debate here. I have always called him Ma"gus", instead of Ma"jus". Don't you think that if they wanted his name pronounced with a "j", when they would have replaced the "g" with it? Makes sense to me.

Yeah it seems logical, but they call Tidus from FFX "Tedus"... Meh, I dunno

It's pronounced ma-j-us for sure. I always pronounced it ma-g-us, but if you play the japanese verion, his name is a japanese word for "magic"

so it's difinitely ma-j-us

PS:

Ayla --------- Eira
Crono -------- Chrono
Frog -------- Kaeru ('frog')
Magus -------- Maou ('magic')
Marle -------- Marl
Nadia -------- Marldia
Lucca -------- Lucca
Robo -------- Robo

Isn't magus a normal word in the dictionary? I know I once looked it up... because I'm a fangirl....

However, I played this game in 1999, and back then I was glad to understand most of the text in the game, and didn't care about the English pronunciation, so I went with "Magus", with the "Aaaahhh" as in falling down a cliff, the G as in great, and the us as... erh... erh... *thinks hard*

Well somethings aren't always pronounced as they are spelled
George-Ge-o-r-ge

Anyway Magus is an actual word i think it means magician or warlock

I don't think that necessarily means it's pronounced Ma-j-us. Ma-g-us is a variation on Mage, so they both make sense.

Anyhow, I say it Ma-gus.

I pronounce it Mage-us. But that's just me.

Yes, it's completely different from the two answers offered, but my pronounciation skills have never been the best, so I'll stick to it. :)

It's obviously pronounced "ma" as in the abreveation of mom, and "gus" as in the name Gus. "ma" "gus" so as you can see Magus is realy a transexual parent who lost a child named Gus and because of this lost turned Goth and hung out in the middle ages.

You can not deny my logic.

I see where your coming from, but I recently met a FF7 fan who called Chocobo's "Cha-cu-bu's". That just hurts my ears. Although, I agree. If you like the game then your cool enough.
