I have reached the latter-half of the the game and I have kinda had a bad revalation....My FAVE character has dimished into eternal uselessness!! Lulu the cooest chick around has become over shadowed now that I have taught yuna flare and the agas.Did this happen to anyone else???

At first, I think that Lulu does become pretty useless in battle. The only thing that she was good for was magic. As I ventured further into the game, I would use Lulu less and less. But, once you start earning Key Spheres, then it becomes a lot easier to manuever Lulu around the Sphere Grid, thus becoming a more useful character.

I like Lulu as a charakter, but in battles I never really used her that often. I liked using her magic spells (black magic) in the beginning, when everybody was still too weak. :(

Later on, I just let her use the white magic the most of the time, but not the black magic.... ;)

Lulu isn't exactly my favorite character, regardless I ended up using her in almost every battle, the black mage is my least favorite class and yet FFX goads you into using her:

1. elements play a bigger role in this game then any other

2. her and wakka are the only characters that have long range so easy, (and wakka only becomes strong near the end of the sphere grid)

and of course her being a black mage, she died every five seconds, so I ended up spending 50,000 potions, pheonix downs, leading to her relationship status through the roof, which sucks because she's the only character that's Iv'e seen in the... snow... bike... scene thing. (at macalania lake)

honestly, lulu is worthwhile near her end of the sphere grid, (even though her requirements of key spheres may make the weak cry)

Like Aerith Gainsborough, I liked Lulu as a character more than I liked her in battle. She was never a very strong part of my team.

Who actually bothered to get her onion knight? I thought that was the most annoying minigame on the map

Most of us probably did because we're anal retentive, obsessive compulsive perfectionists. At least that's why I did it.

I thought it was easy! Come on why does everyone complain? Just do it!

I complain because I wan't turn earn my weaopns through the skill of battle strategy like in other games... not sitting for one hour dodging lightning bolts while listening to that annoying piano tune (it's a cool tune but not after an hour or two) then making it to 198, blinking once and finally getting hit. It's an ego bruiser.

yes, the average final fantasy fan tends to have obsessive compulsive disorder, (raises hand) do we develop it playing these games or is it just the game for those types?

It doesn't take an hour. It only takes like 15 minutes.

Heres a little tip....Do It at night with all the lights off and make sure you dont mute it!(I know the music is annoying!) I have always dodged in the same spot..The fork in the path right near the last lighning tower near the entrance to Macalania woods. I doge three bolts then run foward(when Tidus dodges he jumps back) and repeat. It seems to work everytime.

There is no way to do it in only fifteen minutes. The lightning bolts would have to strike an average of every four seconds or less! And I know that they don't always occur that frequently.

I doge three bolts then run foward

This also adds into the equation that it can't be done in only fifteen minutes. Every time you run forward, your chances of a random encounter increase. And those battles would last a minute or two alone.

What the - Smokey? Are you telling me that you do the lightning dodging without equipping an armor or weapon with "No Encounters?" Now that's just plain hardcore.

HOLY CRAP! That is the first time that I ever thought about using "No Encounters" on the Thunder Plains! I never even thought that anyone did that, or that you could for that matter. Man, I feel like a complete idiot now. No wonder it took me a couple hours to do it.

Yeah, I did this feat the first time I ventured into the Thunder Plains. I really didn't feel like coming back to it later after I had the Airship. Plus, I just wanted to get it done and over with as soon as possible. Besides, the Thunder Plains are a good place to level up. So, just imagine fighting there for two hours. Lots of sphere levels.

Well, I used the weapon "No encounters" there, but I got tired of this minigame. I always got hit after a while..... :(

I maxed out everybodys stat, too. That means, I had everyone in every single fight. But I always called Lulu in a fight, and let her do some white magic, if nessesary, or she was just in and doing absolutely nothing. :(

My Lulu was strong too, but still I didnt like her in fights that much. :(

Once all the stats are maxed the only thing that would differentiate the characters are their overdrives, and Yuna's ability to summon.

During the main story portion of the game (Zanarkand > Yunalesca), you pretty much had to use all the characters (except for Kimahri). They all had their specialties.

I don't really use Lulu anymore cause her regular attack takes too long >_<

It really does take around 15-25 minutes. Its not that hard if you try.(people you have to its so fun to use the nion knight in battle when hes maxed out)

Well, it took me two hours, at least. I didn't use the No Encounters ability, as dumb as that sounds. I just didn't really think about it at the time.

But, I guess that it could take less than 20 minutes if you don't have to fight random battles.

I knew about random encounters but I just couldn't obtain it, not matter how you get it, it involves rikku either stealing the armor from geonoso (sp?) or the ingriedients off of other fiend, and for some reason, I can never steal it, either it doesn't work or I steal something else.

I love thief classes, everything about, the agility, the mild "other" type magic etc. but I have never played a FF game where my thief stole what I wanted, let alone stole anything at all

so I did the thunderplains without no random encounter, and I am not lying, my record: 198. I still have that saved game, just to show my friends.

I broke my controler out of rage that day, (good controler too, sucks) and I rarely play ten anymore, its one of my favorites but I just get peeved at that game.

I never used Lulu all that much. It's always a bit disapointing in an FF game when there's an interesting character you never get to make much use of.

I know this is the FFX forum and all, but Freya from FFIX is another character I liked loads who hardly ever wound up in my party. It's not even that I don't like her abilities and such- the combination of Steiner, Vivi, Garnet, and Zidane is just too good.
