Alright, everyone knows that most bosses are reasonably challenging to defeat, but what about the monsters...?
What about Ruby Dragons, or Grand Dragons, or Dragon Zombies, or Marlboros, or Grimlocks, or Dark Dragon...? You get the idea, so whats your opinions on this?

Six Dark Mages in FFI in the Ice Cavern + Fire 3 six times = dead Light Warriors. You get the idea...

It wasn't hard at all but since there are a few things that I wanna mention about it I'll write something about one monster here.
I'm talking about the monster under the ground of the Shinra building in Nibleeim, you know, it's got two reproduced heads on one body. It was damh annoying cause the monster was so slow that it took about 15 seconds for just one move.

I agree, Greater Marlboro from FFX was really hard, mainly cause he always got to do bad breath first, and all your party members would get confused and kill eachother.

First off,, I agree with 777 , the monsters name is "the yingyang twins" and i have fought them before........about 30 minutes later, the battle was over.....after only 9 turns...

i would also say one of the hardest no-bosses i have fought are these stupid armoured things in FFX and FFX-2, they will close there arms, and open their chest and fire a huge bomb and it almost kills all your characters, i hate fighting them alot, plus these monsters in the north cave in FF7, which cast a pain in the ass spell called roulette, which randomly picks a character, friend or enemy, and kills them, no strings attached

I forgot to say this:

That big huge monster that comes out often inside Sin. whenever you get close to killing it, it counters by dropping a huge meteor that deals 6000+ to all party members. Now if you are playing the game normally, it will wipe out your whole party.

The hardest non boss battle I've ever had well.....there were two of them. The first, I encountered a Marlboro on the way to the Lunar Gate in FFVIII and spent over 45 minutes trying to kill it with only physical attacks since they were all berserked and then I died (I didn't have a ribbon yet) :( and the other was on um.....either FFV or FFVI (Whichever had the dinosaurs in that forest) but I ran into three of them once and I was at pretty much the lowest level possible and it went on forever.....I died then too. :(

I only picked up the series at FFVII, but out of the ones I've played the hardest creatures I can remember are the T-Rexaurs from FFVIII and the Greater Malboros from FFX.

The behemoths (the ones that drop the meteors) aren't that big a problem if you equip a character with Auto Phoenix and cast Protect on him/her. The meteor normally knocks out all but that one character, who then revives the others immediately.

Yeah, greater malborlo is such a dirty monster and I really hated fighting it when I was leveling up or catching monsters in the Omega ruins.

I don't think players usually have got "Auto Pheonix" when they get there.

*shrug*

All I know about that is my own personal experience. And I did have it at that point.

That's fine then, I also want to mention the monster which looks like it's got locked in a stone wall, you can encounter it in the Omega ruins, you remember?

Everytime you hit it, it counters.

I think I know what you mean. Can't remember their name though. If I'm thinking about the right ones, they have a nasty multi-status attack.

Holy is my favorite way to kill them.

My favourite way of killing them is Auron+Masmaune.

Prak

Yeah, that usually does the job pretty well on almost anything. I usually held Auron in reserve until I was ready to polish something off so I could keep his health down to a sliver. Until then, I used Tidus and his Caladbolg and Yuna firing Flares. I didn't even go for the final bosses until I had them all hitting the damage cap. :)

What do you guess from this.

The monster which drops a lot of gill but can be really hard to kill and also can be really easy.

The harder one really annoyed me.

I think the Battle sqaure battles are the hardest when your unlukey because you could have full stats and a perfect carater then all your martia is sealed then items sealed then your posioned then you made mini or accerosy broken and then made mini it's game over or you get to the end and that boat dude hits you out the ring

On FF7 the marlboros are difficult as i met one of them on my way to fight schizo in the north pole crater, i had to wait for ages for all of my characters to get out of sleep, plus confuse and even then i had to use three echo creens to cure the silence...only then could i RUN AWAY...
On FF8, ruby dragons are really difficult because their breath attack is particularly strong.
On FF9, i think that Vepals are the hardest, but that might be because i went on their continent a bit early :(

I always thought that the Malboros from FFVIII are the toughest. As soon as you encounter them, they do Bad Breath, and the party ends up killing themselvs. The same thing goes for X. But luckily, one or more characters go back to normal, and then you could fight or escape. Also, the Battle Square fights are kind of hard. And in 8, with the Ruby Dragons. One time I encounterd one, while I was leveling up the characters, and it killed me using their breath attack! And I didn't save for a long time! :( :(

I'm sure I'm not the only one who found that unreadable.

I never had any trouble with Ruby Dragons myself. Maybe I was just junctioned well for dealing with them though.

if non-boss also includes battles you were not ready for, then i would say the absolute hardest one i ever fought was ozomo or whatever his name is in final fantasy 9, apparently it was the hardest creature they have ever put into a game at that point, and boy did i ever get raped really fast by it, i wasn't even ready:d

The hardest non-boss battles to me, are the ones with Morbol. :(

Well, of course the weapons are hard, too. But I didnt want to count them. ;)

Yeah, I remember this one. But I didnt go in there, when I was still too weak. And later I used x-zone, like you said. ;)
