OK, you start the game with 2 GF's Shiva and Quezacotl.
After that obviously there are 14 other ways to get the GF's, some optional, some inevitable.
Ifrit: Fight Ifrit (Fire Cavern)
Siren: Draw from Elvoret (Dollet)
Brothers: Fight Sacred & Minotaur (Tomb of the Unknown King)
Diablos: Fight Diablos using magical lamp (World Map)
Carbuncle: Draw from Iguion (Deling City)
Leviathan: Draw from NORG (Balamb Garden)
Pandemona: Draw from Fujin (Balamb Town)
Tonberry: Fight 20 tonberries and then fight their king (Centra Ruins)
Cerberus: Fight Cerberus (Galbadia Garden)
Alexander: Draw from Edea (Galbadia Garden)
Doomtrain: Refine items and attain the Solomon Ring
Bahamut: Fight Bahamut (Deep Sea Research Facility)
Cactuar: Fight Jumbo Cactaur (Cactuar Island)
Eden: Draw from Ultima Weapon (Deep Sea Research Facility)
Odin, Gilgamesh, Chocobo, Phoenix, MiniMog and Moomba are excluded.
Q: In your opinion, which GF did you find hardest to get; for example to get Eden, you had to fight Ultima weapon, and he was pretty tricky.

Diablos was hell hard to beat, cause when I used a magic lamp and got on the battle field, every characters didn't have any magic, which was really weird and pi"sed me off.

I forgot to draw GF from bosses many times so I had to do same battles again besides after fogetting to draw Liviathan from Norg I save my data so I couln't go back to fight again, GAHHHHH I HATE THAT FAT AND DISGUSTING CREATURE!!!

To me the hardest was Ultima Weapon. You always have to watch out...;)

Diabolos can be a little rough too....but it�s still ok. :)

Ultima Weapon for me. I died like 3 times then i got lucky and squall did lionheart after i drew eden.

Jumbo Cactuar was pretty hard for me, because hes a giant pain in the ass.

Ultima Weapon is an obvious one, he kicked my butt a few times.

Bahamut is moderately hard too, seeing as you've just had to fight a few of them big ass ruby dragons, and your not the strongest you could be.

I found Cerberus that hardest to defeat, it had some brilliant magic for that position in the game.


As for Eden and Ultima Weapon, the first time I did that, I accidentally killed Ultima Weapon before drawing Eden, so I had to do that fight again, it wasn't much slower really, I mean Ultima Weapon goes down in one Lionheart, easy.

I would have to go with Diablos and Cerebus being the hardest GF boss battles. Well, they were hard when I first got to them. But they're sort of easy now.

And Ultima Weapon for Eden was pretty hard as well. But, I usually just get Eden from Taimat, which is easier to beat. :D

Cactuar, Ultima Weapon, and Diablos. It took me a while but I eventually beat em all! ;)

i think the hardest battle was agianst Diablos. The rest were pretty easy for me.

Hey i noticed that too Diorama, i got all ready for some jackhard boss fight, and the lionheart took him out straight away, the build up to ultima weapon was harder when you have to go down like 6 sets of stairs being constantly jumped by ruby dragons and iron giants.
I think the herdest were tonberry (it took so DAMN LONG!) and Jumbo cactuar cos he had 600,000 HP.

I found quite an easy way to beat diablos.

If you blind him right at the start of the battle all his physical attacks miss, his only other attacks are gravity based so the worst he can do is reduce your hp to one, which is no big deal because then you can use your limit breaks every turn and he should go down no problem.

Also, when i fought Ultima Weapon and you have to go down all them stairs where there are millions of ruby dragons, just junction the ability Enc-None and its a walk in the park, the same applies for when you first enter the research centre and you have to fight all them anacoundar snake things.

Thats a good strategy, i dont think i even bothered trying to Blin Diablos. I was told that Enc-None doesn't work when your down there so i didnt even bother to try.

I think Cerberus was the hardest. Took me quite a few times to beat him. Ultima Weapon is ok because by that point in the game ur at a high level and its easier. The tonberry was easy but long as hell.

I think the reason cerberus was so hard was because he castes triple in himself, and he had some pretty powerful magic. So you can just dispel it.
Tonberries definately is the most time consuming, closely followed by Jumbo cactuar.

At the moment Cactur was the hardest to get, since I'm got to get a few more GF''s though I can change my opinion.

Although get Tonberry knife's are bloody difficult.

I agree. I also thought that the GF tonberry, was kind of hard too. Because you have to fight 20 tonberrys, and they take a long time to kill. Diablos was hard, so is Cerberus. And Jumbo Catuar was a loooong battle! The Brother's GF was kind of hard at first, because you have to do that maze thing. I hate that part!

I was beginning to hate Tonberry at a certain point because it took me freaking long!!!

all the normal GF's from the main story line were not so hard... but the first time i played, i did not even knew you could draw GF's so i did not have mutch of them at the end.

ORDER:
First Place: Tonberry (Took about 1 and a half hours to complete.
Second Place: Jumbo Cactuar (took me about an hour to complete, even with leviathan doing 9999 damage each time...but i dodn't have the lionheart)
Third Place: Diablos, not that hard just a bit strong.

the hardher battle is serberus ,if he gets to put triple on himself ,you are doom

For me there was nothing hard !!!! When I received the Magical Lamp, i went fight Diablos promptly !!! I actually draw from him 100 demis wih Squall. I wasnt attacking him until i hadnt 100 demis.In my case, i had a strenght value before the mission to
Timber on cd1 about 150, so I used only one Renzokuken when he used Gravija and taked my HP to low !!!So he was nothing for me !!!

BUT FOR SOME PLAYERS HE CAN BE A MAJOR DIFFICULT , BECAUSE HE IS USING DEMI, GRAVIJA AND PHYSICAL ATTACKS.

I don't know. It's been such a long time since I played FFVIII, but probably either Eden or Doomtrain.

i fought diabos pretty earlier in the game (this was the first time i played) and i was still kind of wobbly on using all my magiac and stuff so that was kind of tough. but i've got to say that for everytime i play, doomtrain and bahamut were quite tough to crack

The hardest for me are the Giant Cactuar, Cerberus and Bahamut. I always fought Ultima Weapon at the 4 disc so i didnt found him hard. But the one that i hate to get is the Tonberry!!!!Arghhhhh! He take so long to get!

Yeah, but you can fight Ultima in disc 4 , you take the Ragnarok and you go to the ruin and there you go!

the hardest battle is disk 4 omega weapon with over a million hp he killed me plenty of times and griver sometimes i forgot his powerfull technique

Ultima Weapon is the mosty annoying fight I've ever had one, :mad: a few slashs and it was game over, I couldnt believe it :notgood:

It was Ultima Weapon for me, took me 2 game overs to find out its strategy, but after that, smooth sailing... Its worth it though, Eden can do a lot of damage when lvl 100 :D

hmmm actually ive tried fighting diablos when i was like lvl 90... dont know why i waited that long.

I tried Diablos at a very early level and got my ass handed to me. He was a cakewalk after I got a few more levels under my belt though.

I can't think of any GFs that were especially hard. The fight with Tonberry stands out for being long and annoying, but exasperating and challenging are two very different things.

People Tonberrys are easy! Just keep Squalls Hps in Yellow and WAIT for the Tonberry to take a step forward then Renzokuken him and BAM! dead tonberry.(Sometimes they may take up to three but that was at my level which was around 40). and When you fight the big (but ohh so cute;) )one. Just cast meltdown and pummel him with renzokukuen. If squall dies cast life to bring him back still in yellow.(I know its cheap but any other way is sooo long) This way I took ALL them down in about 20 minutes.

You just do normal damage to the jumbo cactuar until he sways or something (I can't remember what he does, but it's something like that). Anyway, when he changes his action, just summon Leviathan like crazy and use water spells. That should kill him. You probably already knew that though.

i couldnt b tsuffed going and fighting ultamite wepion so i drew eden from that bahamut coppy cat in ultamacias castle

lol i cant believe it but i actually found bahamut the hardest cause when i realised how hard it was for me to beat bahamut i went and trained to lvl 100 and ultima was a breeze. but thats only my scenario. oh yeah and omega he is just insane.

They were all simple for me, but cereberus was a little tougher because I was low on items and spells.

I found Diablos and Cerberus the hardest,

Because when fight Diablos,i was at level 100

and when fighting Cerberus,I was at a VERY low level

Like...level 16 or something

I remember waking up one morning before school to beat it, and was being rushed to finish 'cause I was going to be late. Barely manged to do it though ^^;

I think you can, but defies the point of levelling up and gaining the GF's abilities.
Diablos can be a mite tricky, depends where and when you decide to hit Magic Lamp. Personally, I do it after levelling up underneath the G-Prison; just before going to the Tomb of the Unknown king. So it can be very tricky.
Best way to beat Diablos is to draw Demi and then cast from your stockpile. He casts Curaga on you immediatly afterwards.
Tonbery is a pain in the arse. Just takes forever, but gonna tryNinjaYuffies advice.

Hmmm...... I guess I think he's the hardest because he's the hardest one to get to from how I remembered it because chasing him down could be such a pain. Diablos is in between hard and easy depending on when you fight him in the game.

Tonberry because of all the damn Tonberries you have to fight! I hated that. Then it was Doomtrain, I know you didnt have to fight him but getting the malboro tentacles was a task for me. and then Ultima Weapon, because it just attacked and killed my whole party a few times...

Me, I always get Diablo right after you get the magical lamp. He so easy, just use Full-Cure with Selphie when everyone hp is low and you keep attacking him with Renzokuken and Duel. Oh yeah before the fight, junction your best magic on magic junction of a character, so that will increase his/her chance to draw Demi. So when you start the battle draw Demi from Diablo and cast it from your stock a few times. Then keep attacking him like I already write.

Yea, If you draw demi and cast it from your own inventory Diablos casts Curaga on you, I think its some kind of bug in the game. But if you cast demi directly when you Draw he would most probably counter with Gravija

Fighting Ultima Weapon to get Eden. That was fairly hard.

Yeah, but you have to fight Ultima to get eden, so if youwant eden you must fight ultima.

OMEGA WEAPON IS INSIGNIFICANT.

Ultima in my opinion was noyt all that hard at all, it tokk me not long to beat him and i destroyed him with one lionheart.

I tried Ultima Weapon and the last Ruby Dragon killed me. So I went to the castle and tried to fight Tiamat and he was harder , so I ended up getting Eden from Ultima instead (notice he carries Cloud's sword in yellow)

Actually, Ultima Weapon's sword looks exactly like Cloud's Ultima Weapon from VII.

Hmm, just another bout of laziness from Squaresoft.

Back on topic though, im trying to decide who took the longest out of Jumbo Cactuar and Bahamut. Nah, JC definately...

Tell ya what, if you do Renzokuken on JC it made me laugh.;)

Getting Eden from Ultima Weapon is tough, deffinately. It takes an age to get to UW due to all the frequent, tough battles on the way and then Ultima Weapon is strong as hell. Despite being able to save before-hand, he's still one of the hardest battles in the game.

However, you could gain Eden easily from Ultimecia's Castle. Getting it from Ultima Weapon is FAR more satisfying though!;)

to get to the tonberry king was pure evil :( i totally abhorred his "junk" move too.

It wasn't hard to get him, just terribly time-consuming. Having to fight about 20 Tonberrys in a row without saving or leaving the area was a drag because they took so long. They're resistant to almost everything. Diablos was very helpful though.

hey, that's odd. because when i was on the Tonberry King side quest, i left the Centra Ruins after i killed every 5 tonberries or so, to save my game on the World Map. didnt disrupt the quest at all, because i got my Tonberry King after about ... 19 - 21 fallen tonberries.

Not sure how you manged that. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to leave the ruins.

Ah, louse, who told you that one? You definitely can leave the ruins to save. I sure did.

To tell the truth, I heard that you couldn't either.
According to 'PiggyBack Official Final Fantasy VIII Strategy Guide' you are not to leave, otherwise it will erase the memory of your previously fought tonberries.

I read it in the Piggyback guide, yeah. I used one after playing the game through on my own so many times. I wanted to make sure I'd found all the secrets and hidden areas (I just love that game so much I knew there had to be something I could still find!).

So they were wrong, eh? Strange. I'm wondering why they'd type it into their guide if they didn't actually have reason.

I thought that Cerbrus was the hardest to beat
At one point all my characters were beaten exept for Squall (who only had a few hundred Hp left) and he triple thundagad me but i had 100 thundagas on my elemental defence so he absorbed them!!

I didnt find Diablo that hard mainly because i got him straight away, i heard that if you wait until the end of the game to get him hes stronger than the Omega Weapon

Same here. Diablos is hard, because he is only three levels lower than Squall. So if your lvl.100,he's 97.

Diablos! No doubt... You can also draw GF's from the bosses in the last castle.;)

My hardest GF battle so far was Bahamut. Diablos was rather easy for me because I faught him in the beggining. Bahamut was still easy(kind of) too, but my hardest one so far.

Jumbo was definately the most time-consuming. Bahamut i killed with 1x Lionheart. :P

Diablo was hard too but nothing compared to eden.

You cna also draw Eden from Tiamat in Ultimica's castle. That was easy so thats why I didn't put Eden as a hard GF to get.

When I got Jumbo Cactuar, Squall was so powerful I gave him Speed+40% and auto-haste and set his elemental attack to water and he did 9999 over and over really fast, so that wasn't too hard. I'd say the hardest was Tonberry King just because you have to fight so many tonberries.

Whoa! Thanks for the strategy!! Sounds like it would work. Only, I don't have enough Water magic. Can you only get them from drawpoints on the worldmap?

i would have to say diablos cause i was weak at the time and he kicked my ass a couple of times

No you can get it from some monsters (forgot which ones)

But you can also get them bu using I Mag-RF. you can get 20 Waters using 1 Fish fin (found by those weird fish looking things on the beach of the Island were Balamb garden used to be).

The hardest GF i fought was Cerebro and Jumbo Cactar. At that stage of the game Cerebro was hella tough to beat because I was trying to draw Triple Magic from him. I eventually beat him while getting a good supply of Trriple Magic. But I still cannot beat Jumbo Cactar. Need a strategy please.

It's okay, I just beat him, and now I'm done; okay, I think it's Bahumut, Cactaur, and Eden/Ultima Weapon.

Just getting down to Ultima Weapon makes it hard knowing you can't escape from the monsters you encounter down there, and Enc-None doesn't work in that area.

the hardest gf i found was that cerbrus in g garden he kept killing me as i hadnt figured out the elmental attack and defence at the time but now he is easy

These days it is tonberry as killing the tonberrys is annoying and the last tonberry is hard

for me the hardest gf fights were Diablos and Cerberos. They have been the only enemies, who have killed me:D. Diablos was a tricky one, he kept killing me... And cerberos was hard, since he kept using Triple at the beginning of the fight! But i kicked his ass on the second time :) and it was all thanks to a phoenix pinion.

BUT... i haven't completed the game yet:o...
i'm still at the beginning of the third cd. and i think there will be lots of hard bosses and stuff...
but it's ok:D cause i like new challenges:cool:
