What the hell is Quina? Male? female? androgynous? To me it looks like Quina's female, but there aren't real proves, it's just a guess.

I think she's female....but my friend thinks s/he's male.

Actually, im pretty sure its niether. I think its just a creature with no sex, or its a man and a women lol.

Its one of them type of creatures with male and female parts (yuck) But Quina does look kind of girly.

Methinks Quina is probably just an 'it' but in the game they say s/he because it would be disrespectful to just say it.

For example: I think Quina is a handy Blue Mage. However it always thinks about food and never anything else!

If you want to know what gender it is then I would have to go male because most males are obsessed with food (maybe not the cooking but the eating is desired by most males - just for the record, I am male!).

I think Quina's more she than he. For example how many men do you see wearing and Apron with pink frilly things. Also, Quina likes the cooking part too.

There is proof of this if you talk to the Qu in the house at the Qu's marsh in the mist continent.
He will say something and at the end of his speech he will say please take good care of him

Quina is female. She can wear female armour. She marries Vivi. At the one point where Quina is refered to as a he is most likely an error in the translation from Japanese. However the ability to use female armour and the inability to use male armour is programmed into the game and is not a mistake.

Well at first I wasn't sure but when i got to conde petie and s/he married Vivi... well, that kinda made me think s/he was female, cuz she says:

"This is happiest day of my life!"

or something like that...

I say Quina is a male, but I think the answer is opinionated as it depends on what you, the player, thinks. There is not enough evidence in the game to prove that Quina is male, nor is there enough to prove that Quina is a female. There's evidence on both sides as well. So yeah.

I think Square said Quina was an "it".

I think that whole bit about Quina and Vivi marrying was sarcastic and supposed to be humorous. I mean, if Zidane and the rest of them can't tell what sex s/he is, how do you expect a priest of a foreign continent to tell. Plus, that scene is optional.

And the marriage with Vivi....well, I just thought, that was pretty funny.... ;)

Quina reminds me of Gogo from FF6, they both have the same abilities and no one knows their gender. It's supposed to be that way. Just like I thought Gogo was a male though, I think Quina is a female. Quina just looks like a female.

I've always thought of Quina as asexual.

Quina I consider a female, because...

You can't say "Quina" without "Queen"
The use of "a" at the end of her name suggest female gender (referring to a romance language) versus "Quino"
The colors used in her outfit

Note that I'm not saying the developers of the game had any of this in mind, I'm purely stating why I see Quina as a female.

People Quina and Vivi get married to get past Condi Peite. They were married cause they kinda had to. So that really isn't proff it is female.

Quina is definitely a male, his personality represents anything male. He's egotistical, he thinks about food more than often, he's a gourmet, he's like frogs (very young male trait) in that case he IS immature too. Plus he's even refered to as "him" once in the game, rather than he/she.

By the way, why is cooking a female trait? Sure it's something housewives had to do for years, since they really had no choice.

But now that we are in a modern age where gender doesn't matter as much, you'll notice way more men have chef in thier blood.

Seeing as Quina isn't human, it could bbe that Quina is neither male nor female.

IT could be, as Ndi said, asexual. Or, considering you only ever see two live Qus in the game they may not reproduce. It's possible.
