Hey, who here thnks that FFVIII is the best game that Square created?

I honesatly after recently playinbg it think it is one the finer games in history, This was one of the first to have such in depth character delvepoment, altough the magic sysmte make it way too ewasy, the story is is cinematic;)

I wouldn't have a problem saying that VIII is the greatest Square game ever made, but I still think Tactics and VII were a little better. I still wouldn't argue much if someone said VIII was better. It was a great game and the story was pretty awesome.

I think that FFVIII was the best game out of them all! Squall was awesome, Rinoa was the coolest FF girl... It was all great. The love plot was the best... I think so anyway. FFVIII desearved an award! :D

The best thing about FF8 was the GF's i think, there were 16 of them! Most of them being very useful in battle and for abilities. The junction mode was quite annoying at times, but id still say that FF8 is definately one of the best FF games ever (that competing being FF7)

It really get into me and as for the gameplay i didn't gave much attention if i wanted gameplay i would play other games RPG's are for stories

Best FF game: I can't decide between 6 or 8

Best Square game: No. Chrono Trigger is.

I disliked FFVIII. In my opinion the best is FFVII, with out a fight it would win hands down.

I love Final Fantasy VIII. It was the first Final Fantasy game I played, but the best . . .? I'm torn between FFVIII and FFVII for the best game I'm not sure if that will still hold true when FFXII comes out.

I do. For me it is tied for the best game ever. So many people disagree with me, but I love this game. It rocks!

it was the low point for ff because it wasnt a really good rpg cause it was more story/romantic based than other ffs

Haven't you noticed that all the Final Fantasies since FFVI have had a major love story blended into the game?

FF8 creeped me out. I don't like mushy games but hey * was okay. Square showed their graphic potential there.

In all honesty FFVIII had good graphics and a good card game thats all i thought was good about it though.

Since I'm playing it now, I think its brilliant, A lot better than FF7, although I still have'nt completed that yet

FFVIII was alright but I just don't think that FF8 is the best game. I prefer FF7 to FF8 anyday and just thinks that FF7 is much better than FF8. I didn't like the card game, drawing magic and fighting all those other bosses before the main one was boring and irritating. I'll admit that I like the cut-scenes and the story behind each character and where they came from...but tha't pretty much it.

I feel ff VIII was the best for me. It was my first RPG ever hehehe yea i started late on rpg's. It had a long lasting impression on me. I must have played it 10 times. Its by far my favorite game. Although other games come pretty close.

i played final fantasy 8 first and fell in love with it lol i played it 50 times at least i have played nealry all ff except 1,2 and 11,12 but i liked the draw command not needing mp and the gfs was a piece of art the charters were better than ff seven in my opinon the over sized sword was annoying i loved the gunblade

I wouldn't say that FF8 was the best FF game or the best game Square ever created, but it did have some high quality points...

First, it had one of the best Soundtracks I've ever heard. Secondly, unlike VII, IX, X, and X-2...they turned every scene that deserved to be an FMV into one...some of those scenes were absolutely amazing. Thirdly, hands down one of the best plots of any game, movie, or book for that matter ever. And lastly, I just happen to be a huge Rinny fanboy :p

I actually hated FF8. I hated the weapon system and the juntioning system made the game easy. I actually barely beat it. I had to push my self to beat this one. My favorite like everyone else is seven the materia system was awesome and had it some interesting mini-games.

I actually sort of disagree with this.

While there were a lot of great FMVs in VIII, the most emotional scene (with Squall and RInoa in space, when she sits on his lap and such), was just a regular game cutscene.

I understand they needed the dialouge and such to be there, so I like I said, I only sort of disagree, but still.

Anyhow, I liked VIII. Much stronger story then VII, better developed characters, and while I never really liked drawing magic, I did like the junction system.

It's nowhere near as good as FFVI, but eh, the only game I really think that can touch on that is Chrono Trigger.

i argree with ndi it did have a stronger plot and ff8 and good mini games

Well,being myself a FF8 fan,I can't say it's the best. (Though it was awesome~! I had my part of tears and laughters in it...-sigh-) I'd say I had more fun playing FF9,with cheerful Ziddy. FF7 storyline can hardly be beaten... *Nods Nods.* But legendary Chrono Trigger will always have first place. It'd be crazy to say otherwise. Love you,CT! :laugh: :swoon:

i say it was the best no matria better gf,s i found the junction systems easy to use and the card game very good but most of all the weapons are excellent especily the gunblad (drools) lol

i loved 8 it was the first rpgthat i acually owned my self. i borrowed seven form a friend and got half way and loved the plot thenlater bought it and 9. but i think that there was no best game they all have there strong points. like eight had gfs and the gunblade ( the coolest) and seven had sephiroth. and 10 had aeons and asume graphics and they all had great and original story lines. and good music too. and nine had well nine had ummm nine had..... im sure that nine had something does any one know what nine had?

I would say second best being that VI is my favorite...

Eh, I think VI edges out Chrono Trigger, but just barely.

Either way, they're both some of the greatest games of all time. ^^

CT was a great game and all but Final Fantasy was the first to impress me, it was the first with this great storyline plot! and the graphics jumped from what 7 was to that. I love FFX to death but i think 8 will always be the best for me, very beautiful game.

There is no doubt about it that FFVIII wins 'The best game ever' award hands down. I would personally die for it, that's how good the game is.

i prefer viii because....maby it coz it was the first ff game i played it must give it some kind of .... sentamental value. + its got heaps of cool twists in the story line and the charactors really relate to me

Tactics is the bes tFF game by far.

Personnally FF8 was a very good game like all the other FF but there is just one thing that i didn't like.....getting the damn Tonberry GF!!! Arghhh..I hate Tonberry..I think i will change ''Great Warrior'' for ''Tonberry Hater''....

And the storyline was very good but it was not the best. And i liked the battle system and the fact that you could level your GF.

I liked Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, FFVII, VI, X, Devil May Cry, and so far FFVIII is still my favorite. FFVII comes very close though.

I'd agree with most of that...

FF 8 is a great game but personaly i liked the japaneese demo version more.Yeah i had no clue what the think was all about but it had some Cool feel like whole and Rinoa's dressing was better not to mention Squall's face in the opening FMV....

I think they both great in their own way. I dont think you can compare them though...
8 is probably just marginally better for me cos the card game, the fact you get PAID instead of nicking money from monsters ("Hey, that spikey haired git just half-inched my Gil!" cried the three-eyed, 7 legged green goblin-person), plus the fuel for cars is good and i like a good love story.
Plus the storyline gets so much stronger towards the end too, and you can feel all the charaters are much closer and content with their lives. So yeah it is probably (just, JUST mind you) the best game i've played.

I completely agree with you, shear trigger, but VII is my favorite game. I love final fantasy VIII, it seems like it's more emotional and more understanding story, but 7 will always be my favorite.

So in regards to the thread, I think ff VIII is ONE of the best games ever :D

FFVIII is definitly my favorite RPG out there. It's the first finla fantasy I played and I got into it real quick. I like how advanced the graphics and story were and the charcters were'nt freaks or bizzare so I could relate to them and like them. Ever since I bought this game I went into other FF's so I could say this game brought me into FF

oh right..well a lot of RPG's came out already and we can't deny that the quality and characters have been improved amazingly..however..FF8 is really closed to my heart..the story is deep and becoz of it...i was able to understand the person that i love..so much for my love story...sorry about that but FF8 really rocks

7 is my personal favorite, but 8 is also a great game.
