I agree with most of Hans Zimmer's recent work aside from The Lone Ranger it needs the movie to accompany it.

I saw an advance screening of the film and that was my thought during the screening.

The track "Lost But Won" is a great standalone track however.

Yup, I'd agree. "Lost But Won" is an excellent track. May I ask, did you enjoy the film? I saw it at an advanced screening as well, and although I know next to nothing about F1 racing, let alone the Lauda / Hunt rivalry, I though it was quite the entertaining film.

I was familiar with the back story of the film and also a big fan of Formula 1 and I enjoyed the film immensely.

I see more than a few Oscar nominations in this film's future.

Sure!

Thanks for sharing, Cinde, also(i second) uploading your suite flac/mp3 :)

Here's a MP3 of the suite - Zippyshare.com - Rush Suite.rar (http://www76.zippyshare.com/v/29107601/file.html)

Here's a huge FLAC - not sure if this is any gain in quality though, my original source is lossy but I might have done something wrong... I uploaded it anyway incase there is - https://anonfiles.com/file/ba4f1012434a4c8d17627054ade77b8c

I do not have another version, or higher quality sadly.

I'm just a newbie who likes to edit stuff sometimes. I just had a few listens to the score and then edited and chopped it up into a suite, some transisitions were a bit tricky for me though, so apologies if it sounds wierd at same passages ;) I just did it for fun!

Wait, do these ADs get you money?
It can, but it take ages unless you get like 1000+ downloads on one link fast. So far I have used the site for over a month and I still have nothing. I just wanted to try it and I don't see why not. It is just 5 seconds of wait and it also helps me keep track on the amount of lurkers downloading my stuff. If it could help me affort new releases that's good too. I have around 2400 views in total right now and i'm approaching $5. But this has taken ages to reach and I have been posting quite a lot since I started using the site.

330+ downloads on Rush now in total for instance, and only 53 replies in the thread (counting my own). It's nice to know the numbers if you upload something, then you know if people like what you do or not. If no one replies or likes the post (and it has a lot of downloads), then I take for granted that no one cares enough to write a simple thanks or click a like. Then I know I won't share more of that composer/genre whatever, since no one seem care or bother to even say a simple thanks ;) This happens when you upload something that gets 50+ downloads and only 1-3 replies if you're lucky. The stats of the lurkers is quite sad and that was why I did some of my uploads PM only at times, because I find it quite annoying. Another annoying thing is when people repost your upload and it gets more replies/likes than your original post, lol ;) I don't care that much though, but it is always nice to have some numbers.

Ron Howard - "How did canaries influence the score for RUSH?"

Hans Zimmer - "Hi Ron. It was actually budgies. Since budgies can't survive on their own, they have to be a couple, I used that as the metaphor for my James Hunt theme".

Ron Howard shows some activity as well!

Well, just finished listening to this, and I'll say it out aloud... this is another lame score from Zimmer! Why people continue to get excited over Zimmer releases baffles me more and more with each one.

"Lost But Won" is an ok track, reminiscent of Zimmer's more prolific years, but still far from hitting the great heights of his themes from the 90's. The soundtrack overall was very dull and uninspiring, and I'd even have to say I prefer Man Of Steel over this.

Ultimately, if you are a fan of Zimmer's percussion and sound design, then you might get off on it... but if you are a fan of Zimmer's former talent for writing memorable music... then prepare to be disappointed.

Note, my comments above have nothing to do with how the score works for the film, which as yet I have not seen. But considering this is a soundtrack sharing board, I would assume most of you appreciate filmmusic away from the film itself.

Thanks for this, great score, but such a HORRIBLE arrangement on the CD.

Why for f*cks sake do they keep releasing scores not only intermingled with songs from the movie but then also go and add in car sound effects. The movie is great, the car sounds IN THE MOVIE are great, but on the score CD I WANT THE FRIGGING SCORE!!!!!

I had it in my hand this afternoon, after listening to it this morning on the train, but I was put off buying it because i HATE what they have done to the release. PLEASE SOMEONE GET HOLD OF PROPER RECORDINGS BEFORE THEY DO THIS SHIT TO IT!

Sunderella, thanks a ton for sharing this. It is much appreciated.

I am wondering if any of you know whether or not Steve Jablonsky had a big hand in this. My initial reaction to hearing this score is amazement -- due to how closely the main theme here resembles Jablonsky's Allspark theme (alt.) from Transformers. In fact, the arrangement heard at the beginning of "Lost but Won" is as close to an exact copy of that track as is probably legally allowed...

Ha... this brings back memories of the Babe soundtrack, that had a wonderful score by Nigel Westlake ruined by copious amounts of dialogue from the film OVERLAYED on each track! Seriously only 1 track out of 23 was score-only. When I complained about it to Varese in an open forum, I was the one who got flamed for not respecting the difficulties in releasing score albums commercially, even though countless score albums had been released BEFORE 1995 without the need for dialogue and sound effects.

And yet, I image most people would agree that if we wanted to hear dialogue and sound effects over the score, we'd just watch the damn movie!

Thanks! i think this is truly Zimmers finest score this year, more so than man of steel (which is enjoyable, but exhausting to listen to). The presentation however is piss poor. The score should have been seperated from the songs, ruined a physical purchase for sure. ive done my own edit of this which is much better to listen.

I feel I should adjust my expressed opinion on this score in this thread, as since my last post I have had the main theme for Rush going through my head constantly... with 'Lost But Won' and 'My Best Enemy' being on repeat quite regularly.

I still wouldn't consider it amongst his greatest themes, but these two tracks have grown on me more than I thought any tracks on this soundtrack would. The rest of the soundtrack is still shit though!

Curse you, Hans Zimmer... you now have me actually eager to see a Ron Howard film!
