VANGELIS - BLADE RUNNER (1994) (2013 Audio Fidelity SACD AFZ 154 44.1KHz 16bit) (LOSSLESS) + SCANS

Source is Hybrid SACD, but this is 'just' the CD layer (44.1KHz/16bit) in lossless FLAC with .cue

"...one of the most memorable and important soundtracks in movie history."

The BLADE RUNNER soundtrack was composed by Vangelis for Ridley Scott's 1982 film considered one of the finest sci-fi movies ever made. It is mostly a dark, melodic combination of classical compositions and synthesizers which mirrors the futuristic film noir envisioned by Scott. The soundtrack holds legendary status and at the time was well-received by fans and critics including Best Original Score nominations for a BAFTA and Golden Globe yet, except for a few cuts, it was not released until 1994.
The movie remains a classic film with a long list of popular movie stars including Harrison Ford, Daryl Hannah, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, and Edward James Olmos most of whom appear on this hybrid SACD in movie dialog samples mixed into the 12 tracks of nearly one hour of music. Vangelis makes each track flow into one another. The soundtrack features vocal contributions from Demis Roussos and the sax solo by Dick Morrissey on "Love Theme." The colorful 12-page booklet includes many stills from the film. BLADE RUNNER is a timeless classic on film and now on hybrid.

..... and a major disappointment because it includes dialogue that we already have known for years and includes sappy music that is not in the film and excludes music that IS in the film.

Meaning that the plethora of bootlegs remain the closest anyone will every get to the original score because Vangelis is a dope.

The general consensus is that the SACD layer is from a 16bit source so I didn't make a dedicated thread for it.
However, should anybody still want it in 24bit FLAC send me a PM. Please don't request the SACD in this thread as I don't check-in often and it wouldn't be fair to hijack OscarRomel's thread.

Thanks

The general consensus is that the SACD layer is from a 16bit source...

No. It is a new transfer from the same DAT. And since we're talking digital all the difference is in the new converters used if they opted to go the analog way... that only the people at Warner know.
As you might notice the 1994 version of Main Titles does not present the DC offset issue of the new transfer which is present on both the 16 bit layer and SACD layer.
The SACD layer seems to have a tiny bit more noise due to the Weiss Saracon procesing perhaps.

Hope it helps! :)

Thanks for the share by the way! ;)

No, just "on top." Of me, hahaha. In the thread postings - get your minds out of the gutter, people! ;-)

I generally got the impression that most entities (I don't want to assume they're all human) on the treads are younger than me, but I'm starting to reassess that idea. I was born in '69. I'm starting to think that puts me just about square in the middle. So am I older or younger than you?

I was right.
You are younger than me.

As official releases go, the BSX version (http://buysoundtrax.stores.yahoo.net/blru30ancemu.html) released a year ago, though not the original, is quite close. I felt there was maybe one track whose tempo was a little too speedy but Edgar Rothermich did a very good job. He had to follow the movie, recreating the cues (which Vangelis didn't put on paper), researching samples for the period synthetisers sound, then re-performing the music closest to the movie version.
