Thank you Phideas for this lovely rare masterpiece of classic scores and for the booklet from one of my favourite labels. The shortest one, the 20th Century Fox Fanfare, is probably the most played and most famous piece of film music in the history of cinema, as it is played at the start of nearly all their films. (I use it as a ring tone on my cell phone for text messages). Christmas has come early this year with your bonus of Herald Angels!

I hope you don't mind, but while listening I compiled an improved track list:

Track list [64:32]

01. David Newman: Sundance Fanfare [0:40]

Dimitri Tiomkin: It's a Wonderful Life (1946) [38:33]
02. Main Title / Heaven / Ski Run [5:32]
03. Death Telegram / Gower's Deliverance [3:44]
04. George and Dad / Father's Death [2:45]
05. Love Sequence [2:26]
06. Wedding Cigars / George Lassoes Stork [2:44]
07. Dilemma / Bank Crisis / Search for Money / Potter's Threat [4:13]
08. Clarence's Arrival [2:25]
09. George Is Unborn / Haunted House [5:09]
10. Pottersville Cemetery / Wrong Ma Bailey / Wrong Mary Hatch / The Prayer [5:49]
11. It's A Wonderful Life [3:45]

12. Richard Addinsell: A Christmas Carol (1951) (Suite) [14:08]
Main Title / Toy Shop / Cratchit and Scrooge / Christmas Past / Christmas Present / Cratchit and Tiny Tim / Christmas Future / Graveyard / Christmas Day / Finale

Cyril John Mockridge: Miracle on 34th Street (1947) [11:00]
13. 20th Century Fox Fanfare (by Alfred Newman in 1933) / Main Title [1:25]
14. The House / Book Montage [3:51]
15. Newspaper Montage / Susan's Letter [1:26]
16 X-ray Machine / Susan's Disappointment / Finale [4:18]

the 20th Century Fox Fanfare, is probably the most played and most famous piece of film music in the history of cinema, as it is played at the start of all their films.

_________________________

All of these studio fanfares were rerecorded by Charles Gerhardt and can be found on one of his RCA discs.

_________________________

The 20th Century Fanfare was unusually absent and replaced with the opening strains of Bernard Herrmann's scores for THE GHOST & MRS. MUIR & THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL.

Alien3 took it and interpolated the final notes into the eerie film score.

Thus there were exceptions.

The Telarc Label no longer exists.

__________________________

Hark the Herald Angels Sing was used by both Addinsell & Tiomkin as stated in the booklet- so it seemed appropriate to toss a 'version' of it in as bonus.

Isn't Phiddy wicked? ;-)
