Who is the most difficult weapon in ff7, in terms of power and time taken to defeat

what a stupid poll, ruby is almost undefeatable, everone knows that!

I would have to agree Ruby is the hardeset by far. And Diamond Weapon???? Why is he even in there??

sorry, but i have to say emerald!!! i killed ruby with only cloud alive most of the time ('cept when i had to use phoenix) and i even lost tifa, which helped me, so that i could still only use cloud... but emerald... i eventually had to use the ATS trick (aire tam stomp) i had to have vincent only have 2 materia and i used my phoenix all 5 times (cuz of the turns, and the number of attacks emerald used, i could never keep vincent at full health) and then by sheer luck he used ATS when vincent was full health, so i FINALLY got all lucky 7's and hit him for 7777 41 TIMES!!!!! :)

basically, i killed ruby w/skill... for emerald, well doing that is like cheating... nothing i did made him die, i had to use a specific method of cheatery!

Ruby Weapon duh! Emerald Weapon was much easier than Ruby cause he doesn't suck you in anything cutting your party down to one. I beat Emerald Weapon first! Emerald Weapon I beat twice and Ruby Weapon I beat once. Ultimate Weapon was too easy. Emerald and Ruby are easy if you really know what you're doing. But Ruby Weapon was the hardest, even everyone one I know in real life says so.

you guys are all on crack!!! i beat ruby with JUST CLOUD!!! i can't do that with emerald!!! emerald was WAAAAAAYYY harder.... look! just to prove it! i'll tell you EXACTLY how i did it... stats on cloud, equipment, and materia combinations... i'll even give you a play-by-play!!! RUBY IS EASIER THAN EMERALD!!!!

Goodie, you beat Ruby Weapon with just Cloud! I did too. That's what you're supposed to do before you initiate combat with Ruby Weapon, kill off two of your characters! That's why Emerald Weapon is much easier, you don't have to kill off two of your characters, you can use all three of them. With Emerald Weapon, all you have to do is summon Knights of Round a bunch of times, and he won't also cast Ultima in return. At least Emerald Weapon doesn't give you all abnormal statuses in one touch! If you think he's hard becuase he drains mp, then either use an MP turbo or MP Absorb Marteria with KOR. It's so easy! Just because we think Emerald Weapon is easier doesn't mean where on crack, it means we really know how to beat him! Whoopdie Doo, you beat Ruby with just one character, that's what you're supposed to do! Three characters is always easier than just using one, that's enough proof right there that Emerald Weapong is way easier!

right... i understand (and i wasn't serious about the crack comment) all i meant was that each time i try to beat emerald with my ppl, he ends up killing them with Aire Tam Stomp... and then i gotta use one of my final attacks- which only can be used 5 times- and he ends up killing me more than that, so i lose... and about ruby... he just seemed so easy, i didn't have to fight him more than 4 or 5 times... (i dunno, w-item helps alot... so does enemy skill) whatever, i'll stop arguing... sorry if i've offended you!

Apology accepted! It's okay, actually since Emerald Weapon does more damage, what you do is use Final Attack and Revive combination. Also, you may have to have it at least at life 2 so your characters revive themselves at full HP again. I've never tried it, but I've heard Phoenix with revive combination also helps since Phoenix revives all of them. That's the keeping your characters alive part. Yeah with Final Attack and Revives combined will keep up a decent fight. With KOR, you also wanna have W-Summon, and Mime. Cloud's Omnislash helps, Tifa helps using all of her 7 limits, and I used Barret for his Catastrophe. Mainley I just stayed focused on KOR.

Anyway, I thought Ruby weapon was harder due to its resistance to physical attack therefore your characters' Limit Breaks are no use and as someone mentioned you have to kill off your two however I killed Ruby first and secondly killed Emerald.

They were all easy u suck if u cant beat them.

The personal opinion of mine is that ruby was harder mainly due to the fact that when your cahracter suffered whirlsand you couldny get em back, plus he has alorra vitality

The trick is to get Ruby Weapon to bury his claws in the sand which makes him vulnerable to all damage. To get him to do that right away, is to kill off your too characters. So you have to really decide which character you want to kill Ruby Weapon. I didn't know that at first so I killed off Emerald Weapon twice, and killed off Ruby Weapon last and once. Ultimate Weapon was too easy for me.

i thought this poll was recently done here, if not im imagining things and if so shame on you. but anyway, i have to agree that ruby is the hardest, barely beating emerald. simply because of the crazy quicksand attack that removes a character. he also seemed to have more hp than emerald.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: Ruby is a piece of piss if you've defeated Emerald beforehand.

You know why? Hades. Summon Hades on the rouge one and it casts stop on him. So defeat Emerald to get the Master Summon materia. Equip W-Summon on the guy whom has the Master Summon materia, summon Hades, then KOTR, then double KOTR and repeat until Ruby crumbles.

And the good thing is that once he has his arms buried, you can resurrect the other two characters and you've got nothing to worry about. ^^ It's a great opportunity to level up some materia.

whatever y'all... like i said... i always use the final attack-revive combo... but the thing is, you can only use it 5 times... preventing death only 5 times... with emerald, i got killed more than that! with ruby, i only had to use it twice!!! cuz ruby is easy!!! i didn't even have to sweat beating ruby... hades on his claws, and KOR on him (with mystile equipped!) and he'll cast a useless ultima miss on you!

Useful things in other to kill Emeraldwithout KOTR

He is weak against lightning and gravity magics work on him.

Equip W- Magic and Grabity connected to Quadra Magic. This means you can use Gravity magic 8 times.
9999 X 8 = 79992

Equip Elemental materia connected to Lightning as well as Double-Cut which enables you to 4-x Cut.

9999 X 4 = 39996

As some mentioned, it's necessary to use Final Attack connected to Phoenix

If have KOTR, there is no way you lose.

i thought ruby and emerald were both equal in hardness. ruby seemed simpler to kill. i just w-summoned kotr a few times, and had kotr on magic counter so it would cast again when i was hit. he died in about 10 mins maybe.

W-magic, materia?! Where can you get it? I've only heard of W-Summon materia. I know even summoning KOR won't kill Emerald. But that's just if you don't have everything else. Where do you get W-Magic?

ok, tifagirl... there's 3 w-materias... you get w-summon from the battle square (you already know that!)
you get w-item from the underground of sector 8 (remember the raid on midgar?) when you first get into the tunnels, go the opposite direction you're supposed to go (towards the bottom of the screen) you go that way for like 10 screens or somethin... whatever, just till the tunnel ends, and then you'll see w-item on the ground! then the trip back only takes like 2 or 3 screens... wierd!
w-magic can be found in the northern cave... (you do know how to get back out right?) when you get to the path split... go left, then up (which is middle on the screen you're looking at) and go all the way till you get to the room with the 'trees' on the top, and the shiny 'crystal' thing at the bottom middle... there's a materia by the shiny bright light thing (don't remember which) and there's w-magic on the top... go to the top as far as you can... and it's somewhere on the right side... (start on the right, and move towards the middle, pressing the (OK) button along the way! ;)

and, 777: wow! i never knew gravity materia worked??? that's strange, i've never seen it work on anything over 9999 health!!! (which makes it harder to morph!!!!) (ps. i'm wrong, i think it works on the unknowns... but not on MOST things later in the game!)

ruby is NOT the hardest weapon to fight. emerald is so much harder, and also, you have time if you dont got underwater materia. by the way, i recall there being only three weapons: ruby, emerald, and ultimate. emerald is the underwater one, ruby is the one by the gold saucer, and ultimate is the one that flies around. the weapon you fight in town when cloud is messed up is ultimate weapon for all of you who did not know that. so think of that.

The only reason i think emreald was harder is that i didnt have master summon to get kotrt. there is no way im gonna create a gold chocobo, so when i fought ruby, like only 7 summons of kotrt, and wuapow! he's done.

Yeah, but getting the Underwater materia is easy. You just go back to the Underwater reactor, morph the Ghostship, and you get the guidebook. Then you take the guidebook to Kalmtraveler, trade it for the Underwater materia.

I also thought Ruby Weapon was harder because he summons these tentacles that prevent you from being able to escape.

and back at zicor: that is an interesting point.... while there are in all actuality 5 weapons, it is true that you only fight 3 of them...
here we go:

Sapphire (since he's blue and they all have stone names, 'cept ultimate): this is the one that get's blown up by the Sister Ray cannon at Junon

Diamond: This is the weapon that moves towards Midgar (actually it's been a while, i think you actually fight this one before he dies.... not sure... ppl please clear this part up...) anyways, whether you fight him or not... he gets killed by the Sister Ray cannon at Midgar, which then goes to remove the barrier around the northern cave.

Ultimate: (hardly a fitting name) the one you fight first in Mideel, and later all over, in the highwind...

Ruby: duhh, the one in the sand around gold saucer

Emerald: another duhh... the one underwater...

So there is a Saphire Weapon, but you don't get to fight it right? The Saphire Weapon was the one in the Cinamatic scene with the Junon Sister Ray? I used to mistake that for Emerald, but then I thought, wait it doesn't look like Emerald. So that's Saphire Weapon huh? That's useful info!

You seem to make it look all easy, but tememner you can only have up 2 999 MP...

Yeah, but after spending a couple years finding the right strategy, their no problem. Well their still hard, but when we say their all easy now, that means we've mastered the Weapons. Why would they be easy if they're titled as the games greatest challenge? You can only have up to 999 mp, but the trick to keeping it up is to use MP Absorb combined with KOR to fully restore you're MP.

... or you can use elixers/megalixers to keep MP up... OR you can use HP<->MP (if you're daring... or if you have mastered final attack-phoenix on as many link slots as possible...) btw... can anyone verify if you can use final attack more than 5 times if you have 2... or do you just use both of them at the same time?

Well..............although my knowledge is more to FFVlll.......but i've completed FFVll 3 years ago and I must say Ruby weapon is the hardest weapon to beat in the game!

1. The mud really suck u in!
2. Some of his stances makes he endure s to physical damage!
3. And you can only deal high damage to him when his hand(tentacle) is set to the ground.

Actually, after going on ebay I saw someone selling that figure of the same Weapon, it states on the box Saphire Weapon. Which Weapon was it killed by the Sister Ray then:confused:? It doesn't look like Emerald. It may be a Saphire Weapon. Which one was it:confused:?

idiot??? look in the game **tries very hard not to be obscene** you'll see it clearly written 'Knights of Round' and if you happen to go to the island and pop up the menu [with the triangle button, duh!] you'll see it say at the bottom, where the location shows up, 'Round Island' hence the 'Knights of Round' ...
and another thing... so you don't remember the blue weapon that got shot by the sister ray [that's the cannon if you didn't know] when it was still in Junon??? that's the sapphire weapon...

OK, maybe from where you have looked its true; but i have looked on some ff websites and search engine picture search, and there is no picture of sapphire wepon, however you get decent pics of diamond weapon.
The way i BELIEVE it was, is that when you defeat diamond weapon, it escapes and gets shot by the cannon form the sister ray, it didn't look blue to me.
And lastly why would they bring a weapon if u couldn't fight it, i have a walkthrough of 7 and no such weapon is mentioned.
I am not making judgements or thinking that i know best at all, nut thts how i see it.

Saphire weapon exists! If you played this game to its end, you must have been asleep during your TV displaying the scene that Saphire Weapon came out.
Don't mistake Saphire for Diamond, they are totaly different.

What's the point that the weapon which you don't fight with exist?
In very original Japanese version, there were just 3 weapons and 2 of them were unfightable except for Ultima weapon.
The 2 were Diamond and Saphire, Diamond weapon was just blown straight by the Sister Ray without you fighting to it.
THe weapons weren't originaly made for players to just fight against.

In international version, Ruby and Emerald were added and as you know Diamond became fightable but since Saphire is meant to go directly to get destroyed by the SR soon after it appears, there was no way Square could modify it.

Actually, the one we're talking about was the one when Sister Ray was on Junon, not Midgar.

OK, im just gonna reinstate our little conversation, i believe that it was emerald weapon that got shot at junon, as it then goes underwater from the impact.
Also when you see the weapons awaken only four are visible ultimate, diamond, emerald and ruby so unless sapphire weapon just appears.
No i aint 100% sure that there isn't a sapphire weapon so i am not going to pursue the subject.

Do you mean that person who said it was Knights Of Round, when iam sure its knights of the round from king arthurs knights of the round table, as in the summon animation about 12 knights attack and then it is finished off with king arthur.
