nobody likes composers advise?
download the file, unrar, then begin to hear with no 1, then track 2 etc...its easy ;O)
suggestion:
track 1 and 13 from same composer, he plays piano very well, he is still alive, but he is an politically and religious unpopular person in his "no freedom of expression country", court judgment: ten months on probation or say five years no similar statements!

2. suggestion:
Track 2 this composer is underrated in my opinion, he wrote 6 terrific symphonies, a lot of concertos for different instruments and chamber music, some operas and oratorios. but not so much for piano solo, unfortunately and no soundtracks...he emigrated to the United States, fleeing the nazi invasion. all the symphonies first performance in usa.

3. suggestion:
track 3: this is music from an movie, or better a study of the main theme...the composer is a wife, she lives in new york, but she is ukrainian origin...

4. suggestion:
the piece sounds like an arc of music, composer died in 2001. he wrote film music also.
most famous work is for choir and orchestra. he lived near the baltic sea...

5. suggestion:
track 5 : one of my favorite composers of contemporary music, he wrote 12 tone rows in tonal sounds ;O) 8 symphonies till now, many operas and concertos... from angels inspired music and birds sing in one of his best known composition....

5 has to be Rautavaara... a true genius.

The others... are magnificent, and I'm ashamed to say I haven't a clue...

7.suggestion:
track 7: this is one of three dances for violin and orchestra. the composer is more known for his church- and choir music. in his youth he wrote romantical orchestral, then a personal tragedy and the music turns to a spiritual form. my favorite piece is the best, beautiful, bombastic, beloved, b... ;O)

8. suggestion:
this composer put elements of rock music in some of his compositions...and it sounds realy like film music...a piece for guitar solo became little famous on youtube, it can be played on organ also and a version for string orchestra is available...his music elevates me to an unchained powerhouse ;O)

---------- Post added at 04:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:53 PM ----------

sorry, i made a big mistake with the 4th track, on my internal hard drive the track numbers are confused...;O(

I've got the BIS set of Holmboe's symphonies but I haven't listened to them in much detail apparently. I was trying to think of who wrote 13 symphonies and the box set caught my eye on the shelf.
Bloch was a Google effort, it's a fair cop guv. ;)
