Apparently GF's are gonna be back, but which ones is the question, is squre just gonna create a load of new ones, or stick with the golden oldies.
The GF's on ff 8 looked ok, but on ps2 graphics they'll look cool, lets just hope that ff12 is better than 10

For the most part, the Summons/Espers/GFs/whatever are all based on Greek, Roman and a bunch of other Mythologies.... so, they really can't create a new one off of the bat.... even Knights of the Round was based on something... and if you don't know, I'm gonna cry. ;_;
