Have any of you here ever got the Excalibur2, which is the strongest weapon you can get in FF9? When I heard of it, at first I thought it was bull$!tt, but later I realized it's true that it exists.I kind of tried, but I quit cause I thought it is almost impossible to do. I'm just curious, how many people here managed to do it and how.

By the way, I think there are so many secret things in FF9 compared to other FFs.

If you haven't got anything useful to post, then please don't bother...

I forget the exact time that you need, and the exact place where you need to get to, but you have to play through Final Fantasy IX within that certain time and get to the end (or a save point near the end) in order to obtain the Excalibur2. This does involve a lot of running away during battles and being at a stupidly low level for most of the game. (And probably lots of reloading from old save games.)

I'm pretty sure it's less than 20 hours.

You have to reach, and I think beat, Hades in Memoria in less than 12 hours of gameplay... it's virtually impossible to do so though.

I managed to obtain it after many sleepless nights and cups of coffee. Excalibur 2 lets you teach Steiner Climhazzard, which isn't really all that useful compared to how much Steiner can attack with if you equip him with it. ;)

Do you think it's a really usefull item? I mean " is it worth obtaining it with lots of efforts such as sleepless nights? Is it definitely the strongest weapon, comparing Steiner himself to other characters?

Climhazzard is quite a handy technique really. Also normally it deals quite a bit of damage. So yeah try and get it, also there nothing quite like getting EVERYTHING in an FF game.

Yeah, but FF IX is quite different from other FFs, when it comes collecting every item, cause there are too many secret things that you can't get any more if you miss the chance, such as coffee beans. I think getting a Excalibur 2 is possible if you carefully plan how to play, but you can't get other secret items at the same time can you? Hummmmm,,,,,,,,,,

there is two ways to get excaliburII, there is that one and also you have to go to daegeuro and do a quest for the guy looking at the books next to the item shop, i think,

I can honestly say that yes, I have in fact aquired the best weapon for Steiner Excalibur II. Although this weapon is really kickass I wouldn't really suggest trying to get it your first time through. To be frank it was a real pain in the ass having ot reset the game constantly because I decided I had taken too long completeing an area. I also cheated by opening the Playstation's lid so it would skip movies.

I have already heard that you can skip movies by opening the lid.
Despite it it's still almost impossible therefore people wouldn't think of it as cheat.

I can say you are a hard core fan,,,,,,,,,

Noway, Excalibur2 is stronger than Ultima Weapon, if not what's the point you spend a lot of time trying to get it.

Excalibur2's power attack is 108 and Ultima weapon has 100, however I haven't got it so I shouldn't say something about this, should I?

tbh after you get a high enough level with Steiner it doesn't matter which the weapon is Excalabur or Excalabur II

"There has been a rumor saying that if you wait until the clock reaches 99:99:99 he will reset back to 00:00:00 and you can get the Excalibur II then... it's true that the clock resets back to 00:00:00 and turns red but the Excalibur II will not appear. If you want it just reach Memoria in 12 hours or less, there's no other way..."

*snap* I knew it was too good to be true ^^

I have gotten the Excalibur II. It was a real challenge, even with skipping, but it was a fun and interesting quest.

P.S.: Yes, that is true that the whole "clock reset" thing is total bunk. I actually do have a savefile like that and it does indeed turn red, so the game knows that you're over 12 hours.

I had been half believing the rumour,,,, but at the same time I was thinking like "Does Square make such a cheap system?"

I haven't tried anything yet but I personaly think it is not true.

It is most definitely not true. Please don't try it just for the heck of it. Pure waste of time.

What do you mean, you were told you'd get $50? Did someone tell you that Squaresoft would send it to you? Or did one of your friends or somebody actually give you $50 for doing that?

Toastie!

Hahaha it wasnt Squaresoft... though i wish it was. It was one of my friends who gave me the money... it ws originally only going to $20 which i wasnt too pleased with.

Do you guys always do that kind of extreme gameplay, betting on whether one can do it or not?
$50 sounds a lot to me.
