How well does the game run on dial-up connections? That's all I'm curious about. It's probably the only thing keeping me from getting the game, because I've been told it isn't even worth it, to get broadband to "fully immerse myself in the experience."

Well?

The game can be fully experienced with little to no lag on a dial up connection. The only real problem with the dial up connection is patching. Once you get over the patching, everything will run smooth assuming your connection is stable.

and assuming you have a good grafics card... and atleast 164 megs of memory... (i think thats about right...) well yeah... cuz i got 96 megs memory... and a geforce 400 mx grafix card... the games runs nicely... but it laggs alot because of the card... id get a better card if you can than a geforce 400 mx ;) (sometime soon for me ;) heh :P

Then you shouldn't have any problem aside from the patches. I believe the connection speed is capped at 56k for everyone anyway. Just be prepared to leave your machine on for a day or so while the patches download.

Patching for the PS2 version is much more shorter than the PC.... so you should be done within about a few hours instead of a day.

It depends where you live, Mutero - in Australia, Sony has a deal with our main broadband provider (Telstra) to use the Network Entertainment, and all their releases say not to bother unless you've got at least 512k ADSL, or Cable.

But i'm not sure if they actually prevent you from using it if you've got Dial-up - hopefully I should have Cable by the time FF11 arrives on our bonny shores, so I should be fine.

I'd give your ISP a call, and see what they say.

I also see that you're using AOL. While AOL will work all right (it's listed under ISPs in the PlayOnline Disc as I recall), we all know how shitty AOL can get.

... He wasn't even talking about you... so I guess the reason he knows you have AOL is that you just told him.
