This is NOT a good recording and most will be disappointed. All the dynamic music is missing. Only little quiet passive moments that are generally unmemorable. One wonders who created this disc and one wonders why Conti could never produce a copy of his OST. Of course as well all know, most composers do not OWN their music for films. The film studio does ultimately decide whether it is worthy of commercial release.

The film was re-edited for the American audience and obviously Conti rescored it for the American audience (and this is odd, too, since he rescored it to sound almost like the French score). It bombed in the USA. It was a hit in France.

I would appreciate a link. I never "got" Eric Serra for any of his scores. Big Blue had its moments, but in typical Serra fashion it never completely worked

Thanks for this rare share, wimpel69! I had heard about this a long time ago, but never thought it would ever be made available. I've only seen the movie with Eric's score (which I think was preferred by Luc). However I'm finding Conti's version is also quite beautiful as well.

When the movie arrived at USA, the studio cut half of it and re-scored it with Bill Conti's music, which is nothing else then a cheasy copy of Eric Serra's original.
