The Great Creator

I'd been thinking for some time
of the best means of creation
towards things great minds find most profound
and thus began my experimentation

Of my labors, I won't expound
There were far too many complex runimations
But I can tell you what I found
After reviewing my notes and several citations

Early on I learned we're touched by sorrow
and will pour our souls into a tragedy
And often, once we pull ourselves out
We recognize a complex beauty

And I'd like to create such things
That let us see life as it truly must be
That haunt the soul with their infinite torment
Yet leave it filled with ecstacy

But I won't only deal in saddening things
I'd love to produce unrestricted pleasure
That swells through your toes and overflows
and produces happiness beyond measure

And what does man love to do more than laugh!
With all the portents that activity brings
To make him sit and slap his knee
And I'd like to create such things!

To make man laugh!
To make him cry!
All at once!
No great task for I!
The greatest creator you will ever see!
My works spill out with originality!
And after my studies
I have quite the plan!
To combine things that are comic
with moving tragedy
A most ingenious creation
I must say to you all
that is representative of the genious of me
A remarkable invention!
I've the finest title for it
My grand amalgamation henceforth called
"comedy"

super alternate ending!

To make man laugh!
To make him cry!
All at once!
No great task for I!
The greatest creator you will ever see!
My works spill out with originality!
And after my studies
I have quite the plan!
To combine things that are tragic
with moving comedy
A most ingenious creation
I must say to you all
that is representative of the genious of me
A remarkable invention!
I've the finest title for it
My grand amalgamation- henceforth called
"tragedy"

It's pretty stupid , I know. All of this was made simply because I found it funny that merging tragedy with comic ended with "tragic", and similarly so with comedy and tragic. Yup. Probably hundreds of other words that can be used that way.Still, I haven't written anything in a while, so...

I actually can't quite tell what you mean by this. o_O

I like the poem though. In particular:

And I'd like to create such things
That let us see life as it truly must be
That haunt the soul with their infinite torment
Yet leave it filled with ecstacy

That's a great rhyme. I often feel that way about things I create. :D

well...

you know how

drama
+
comedy
_______
dramady

?

You can't really combine comedy and tragedy like that because they're too similar.

I was thinking of what a tragic comedy would be called, and since I couldn't blend those words, I thought, well, I'd change tragedy to tragic and try mixing from there, but I just ended up with "comic"... and yeah, I thought that was really funny.Who knows why I thought it was funny, but, yeah. There ya go.

Ah... I've never heard the term "dramady" before. That is kind of funny, though.
