All right, folks, it's time for a new feature! (sounds of great fanfare and trumpts) Every couple of days, I will post a quote from any Final Fantasy game that I think sparks debate and discussion. After posting a short analysis, everyone is then free to chime in their own thoughts on the issue being discussed.
First quote:
Irvine: So like... if you knew that your enemies were pure evil, you'd get more fired up to fight them, right?
Squall: (...An enemy that is pure evil? Right or wrong are not what separate us and our enemies. It's our different standpoints, our perspectives that separate us. Both sides blame one another. There's no good or bad side. Just two sides holding different views.)
Analysis:
I think that Squall is really touching on something major here. To cite just one example, how about Kuja from FFIX? Zidane really seemed to follow the Squall philosophy on this one. And you've got examples throughout: the evil Queen Brahne who really wasn't so mean after all and the amazing Beatrix.
