Lux Aeterna
Los Angeles Master Chorale
Choral works by Morten Lauridsen

I have included Lauridsons Lux Aeterna in a previous post. But this is the complete disc from my collection. Once upon a time I walked into the house, the radio was turned on, and I heard this glorious sound of angels all around. I sank back into a chair, weak at the knees, and was enveloped by the sheer beauty; every hair standing on end. This was the pure rapture of human voices lifting the soul.

1. Introitus - Lux Aeterna
2. In Te, Domine, Speravi - Lux Aeterna
3. O Nata Lux - Lux Aeterna
4. Veni, Sancte Spiritus - Lux Aeterna
5. Agnus Dei - Lus Aeterna - Lux Aeterna

6. En Une Seule Fleur - Les Chansons Des Roses
7. Contre Qui, Rose - Les Chansons Des Roses
8. De Ton Reve Trop Plein - Les Chansons Des Roses
9. La Rose Complete - Les Chansons Des Roses
10. Dirait - On - Les Chansons Des Roses (Lauridsen/piano)

11. Ave Maria - Ave Maria

12. MID WINTER SONGS: Lament For Pasiphae
13. MID WINTER SONGS: Like Snow
14. MID WINTER SONGS: She Tells Her Love While Half Asleep
15. MID WINTER SONGS: Mid-Winter Waking
16. MID WINTER SONGS: Intercession In Late October

17. O Magnum Mysterium - O Magnum Mysterium

Referring to Lauridsen's sacred music, the musicologist and conductor Nick Strimple said he was "the only American composer in history who can be called a mystic, (whose) probing, serene work contains an elusive and indefinable ingredient which leaves the impression that all the questions have been answered. From 1993 Lauridsen's music rapidly increased in international popularity, and by century's end he had eclipsed Randall Thompson as the most frequently performed American choral composer

In the 2009 movie Angels & Demons film composer Hans Zimmer incorporated the Introitus opening of Lux Aeterna for the final scene.

This is a real treat!
Having owned "Lux Aeterna" from February (thanks to you!),
I've tickled my ears many times listening to this ethereal music.
Now I'm looking forward to listening to Lauridsen's other choral works.
Thank you for your excellent post, my friend!
