Here is a project I've been wanting to do for a while, the expanded soundtrack to the 1986 film adaptation of Little Shop of Horrors, with lyrics by Howard Ashman, music by Alan Menken, and score by Miles Goodman: https://mega.co.nz/#!BEkRyAaZ!CYQUJWq092I45nXe14Yp_Aobm-cID--MU1MlY-PS8UQ

Not liking the edit that is already available online, and using the isolated score track on the 1996 DVD release (which was left off the recent Blu-Ray release), I tracked each and every piece of music included. However, every now and then, mostly during The Plant's songs, there would be lines missing. So, using the center channel from the 5.1 mix, I reinserted them, completing the songs. I also decided to edit the cut verse in "The Meek Shall Inherit." As a couple bonus tracks, I also included the soundtrack version of "Meek Green Mother from Outer Space," the demos to "Da-Doo," "The Worse He Treats Me," "I Found a Hobby," A Little Dental Music," "We'll Have Tomorrow," and "Bad," and Debbie Gravitte's recording of "Crystal, Ronnette and Chiffon" from Part of Your World: The Alan Menken Album. There's a few edits I want to make, but I'm happy with it right now.

Also, you may notice that the track numbers skip ahead after the End Credits Suite. Right now, I'm working on getting the six channel track from the original ending, and, once I get it, that's where the songs from the original ending will go.

Also, here's a draft of the screenplay by Howard Ashman, which I call "The Valentine's Day Draft": https://mega.co.nz/#!oRc0SIBb!H9aKahQ6YKSGwa32nBaB6Sa_DZQBwt5nhovwarg Ko7A

Hi, great share! I too am a massive fan of LSoH!
As a matter of general interest, were the demos meant to be in the original musical or were they written exclusively for the film?

Bad was written for the film before getting replaced by Mean Green Mother. Everything else was written for the musical. (Hobby was replaced by Dentist, Tomorrow was gonna take place right before Somminex / Suppeftime II, Dental Music was to be sung by The Urchins while Seymoure is in Orin's waiting room, and Treats Me was written when the duo where first starting work on this treatment of the score and never really had a place.)

Where did you get the demos from? If you have the Mean Green Mother demo I'd love to hear it!

Yes! I originally did it, but didn't like the way it turned out. But it is coming! :)

No. Since I used the DVD, I don't think a FLAC version is really an option. (Besides, I did it for myself really, and I personally have no real use for FLACs.)

"Da-Doo" and Howard's version of "Bad" came from the CD set Howard Sings Ashman while the rest of the demos come from the original Broadway cast recording from 2003.

As for a Mean Green Mother demo, I don't think one exists.

Great job. I'm not big into musicals, save for Tommy, but this is definitely one of the better ones. Thanks!

Thanks for this! I haven't gotten all of the way through yet, but what I've listened to so far is, for the most part, awesome. When it comes to musical films, it is always nice to also have the non-vocal pieces, and those often get left off of the soundtracks for musicals. Also, a lot of the songs from this particular film had different arrangements (sometimes with quite different background performers, a notable example is Skid Row) so having the film arrangement is a treat!

One notable exception in what I've listened to thus far, which has already been addressed somewhat:

Are you planning to edit "Oh that hurts, I'm not numb" etc back into "Dentist"?
Yes! I originally did it, but didn't like the way it turned out. But it is coming! :)

I must say, Dentist! doesn't really sound right without, "Oh that hurts, I'm not numb," "Oh, momma!" or even the gargling at the end. If you do never get around to fulfilling that implied promise of, "But it is coming!" then I think for that song I'd just stick with the version from the OST. While it may be missing a few tiny bits of instrumental bridging, it would be vocally more complete.

If the problem is that the audio for those parts doesn't sound right when sourced from the DVD, have you thought of using the version off of the OST as a source and creating a hybrid track combining the two? (If you don't have access the OST, I'd offer to help, but it is one that I ripped a long time ago, before (a) I was smart enough to be sure I ripped in 320, and (b) I took care of my CD's well enough to make sure they didn't end up scratched as all hell. So I'd only be able to provide at a paltry 166 kbps, I fear. While not ideal, still good enough for listening. But I wouldn't use it for editing together a track when intending the final version to be in 320!)

(Edit: Having just listened to End Credits Suite, the Dentist! segment of that song contains all of the above mentioned bits. Could that be used as a source to edit those missing vocal bits back into the song proper?)

Finally, any treat for Little Shop fans who may also be fans of the excellent BBC comedic sci-fi series Red Dwarf. Anyone else ever notice that Danny John Jules (Cat) is one of the back-up singers in Da-Doo?
