Uploader Info: This is a direct line recording of the Sonic 1 port for Android and iOS devices. It came out on May 16/17th of 2013, and one of the key features the game lists is a "fully re-mastered" soundtrack. This sounds a lot cleaner then what you could get a Genesis / Megadrive to produce, but (in my opinion) it still is very similar and sounds great. Due to the nature of this soundtrack being of the remastered nature, for the first time I'm offering both a FLAC and MP3 download.

And with that, enjoy!

No problem! :)

So I guess some people are confused about what this is, so let me clarify. This is a direct line recording of the Sonic 1 port for Android and iOS devices. It came out on May 16/17th of 2013, and one of the key features the game lists is a "fully re-mastered" soundtrack. This sounds a lot cleaner then what you could get a Genesis / Megadrive to produce, but (in my opinion) it still is very similar and sounds great.

Ohhh man, am I a dunce. So apparently there's a no Sound Effects option in the menu. I which I had actually tried to find this myself so I wouldn't have to re upload the soundtrack. Oh well.
The original post has been updated with new download links that include a re-recorded version of the Ending, Staff Credits, and the once missing Special Stage track.

For those of you who already downloaded the soundtrack before this update, here are packages of just the updated & added track(s):

I might be in the minority but i don't like this. sounds like they ran it through a high pass filter, added slight reverb, raised a lil bit of treble with an EQ, and called it a day. way too tinny for my taste. they should have just used the demotracks instead of this, imo. (and I know sega doesn't own the rights to those, but they still edited the audio anyway) at least the music itself is a classic :P

Alright, all the links have been updated.

dissident93: Ya, I'd say you're in a minority, but not alone. I've read a few other people say they feel similarly about it. There's some rumor going around that this is all actually recreated in some software the devs developed, but they won't say for sure. So don't really know what exactly the story is behind this yet.

Here's the OGG rip from the game file itself. Kudos to sonicblur from Sonic Retro for writing the decryptor. Feel free to tag the files. Download out.rar from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way (http://www.sendspace.com/file/e0gr08)

Even with a FLAC recording you won't get past the 16KHz cutoff.

Thank you very much ClassicTeam and Pulsar_T!

I personally find myself agreeing with dissident93. "Title Screen" (Data.rsdk_102.ogg) and "Intro" (Data.rsdk_105.ogg) are the only ones that I easily find pleasant to listen to, predominantly due to them not being related to the remastering - the remastering somewhat discomforts my ears, and most of it being due to much of the audio which is at the frequencies which are >=14kHz.

recreated? hmm. I did notice the snares in Marble Zone sounding different, but I chalked that one up to the EQ-ing. interesting.
