All my respect to you, Double_M.

I'd recommend this album to anyone who enjoys symphonic music because it's first-rate stuff. I really love this sort of albums since, unlike OST's or BGM Collection's albums, here the composer can expand and develop his musical ideas to their fullest. In other words, these albums give the opportunity to hear the true voice of an artist (composer), because there are no restrictions as in other commercial works.

So, if you want to know the true talent of Mr. Kentaro Haneda, don't miss the opportunity. What a genius he was!

On a side note, if I remember correctly this album consists of two discs, the second one being an original drama. I don't care at all for that disc, but I thought that it's worth mentioning.

Thanks Double_M for sharing this!! :'D

According to the VGMdb (http://vgmdb.net/album/39017), the Healthy Wings Orchestra is credited, not the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra.

It's not completely symphonic or rather orchestral since that studio orchestra is backed up by drums, guitar, bass, etc. It's as the album title says a rhapsody ("An instrumental composition of irregular form often incorporating improvisation")...I think. Track 6 is surprisingly completely orchestral, though ^^"

Kanyenda, have you listened to Kentaro Haneda's Symphony Yamato 2009 (Thread 123348) yet? It's my first Haneda encounter and it's really good and a real symphony to boot :'D

While it's true what you said, it doesn't diminish the quality of the music. I usually gravitate towards orchestral or symphonic music, but I can equally enjoy and appreciate other styles of music, what matters is how good the music is. Personally, I find very appealing the retro style of Kentaro Haneda, I know that can sound a bit outdated to some, but some of his jazzy cues are quite creative and original. His music is much more than the typical late 70's or 80's anime music, he can write for full orchestra as smoothly as for solo piano or jazz ensemble. Let's not forget that he began his musical career as concert pianist, a first-class virtuoso.

And yeah, I'm well acquainted with that Yamato album, terrific stuff. I've heard quite a bit of the most representative works (http://vgmdb.net/artist/324) of Mr. Haneda, his symphonic arrangements for Falcom were my starting point to his discography and I was sold ever since. Anyway, his complete discography is enormous, he has scored a lot of movies and tv dramas that are virtually unknown out of japan, also he has several albums dedicated to his original compositions. So, I don't claim to be a real connoisseur of all his works, because I only know a little bit of it, but I know what Mr. Haneda was capable of.

By the way, I'm still searching for this album (http://vgmdb.net/album/39100) (Suite Macross). I lost it some time ago, and I remember that it was really great, I'd appreciate so much if someone cpuld share it.

I've already bumped into that video, Herr Salat, thanks anyway.

The good news is that after some intensive searching on the internet, I found a torrent with seeds and I could download the album I was looking for (in full Flac glory!)

So, I just wanted to share it with all of you. IMHO, Suite Macross it's a prime example of the musical genius of Kentaro Haneda, the music on this album exudes all the best traits of Haneda, encompasses all the styles he cultivated throughout his career. Romantic excesses, jazzy undertones, funny and eccentric mix of genres, baroque influences, virtuosity playing...

Enjoy it (http://dfiles.eu/files/1ecmu740c)
