Note: sound has been enhanced from original recording sessions to where it now sounds consistent and silence has been removed. As with Inception, no bonus material other than what was included with the set is included here yet.

This one took a lot more care for some of the leveling but overall I was very impressed myself. I removed the source cues and carefully edited the pieces that featured the source music mixed in with the score so it now sounds much better and consistent with the remaining portion of the album.

i am confused as to why your version is better no offense but most people i think just listen to scores via their ipod and it goes right into the next track so you would really not tell any differences idk its just my thoughts maybe not everyone listens on an ipod or mp3 player

Which is better is entirely up to the listener's preference. If you like the source cues that were on the original bootleg and were perfectly fine with how inconsistent the volume was between some tracks then I'd say stick to the original bootleg. As I've noticed, it seems to be an isolated score of some kind rather than authentic recording sessions which makes sense why a source cue would be mixed into a track rather than being presented in its own separate track like the other source cues. I prefer my edition because it eliminates the unnecessary source music allowing the audience to hear only Zimmer's score in a form similar to the film but passable for a decent album. I honestly expected more score but 89 minutes was the final running time after the editing process. As I'm very inexperienced with equalization, I applied no equalization to this or Inception. I don't want to risk making them sound worse so I leave the proper tweaking to the professionals.

Also, there are only two instances of swapping the order of tracks to improve the listening experience and keep it consistent with the flow I established. The first track is Investigating Reordon's Lab which begins with Pt. 2 and concludes with Pt. 1. I decided to do it that way because Pt. 1 was mostly source music with a short stinger at the end that sounded rather odd starting the track off with. Upon closer listening, the decision to present the track in that order helps with the transition into the next track labeled Insert. Originally, the two note Sherlock theme played at the end of that track but plays at the beginning of this version and transitions into the original beginning of the piece.

Parliament Final Battle was an odd piece to edit because towards the end (approximately 13:06 on my edit), the second trumpet note seems to drop off and does the same for the reprise of the same note just a few seconds later. A quick listen to the album convinced me that I wasn't just crazy in finding that an odd anomaly so I manually went in and fixed that segment to where it plays at the volume it should. I've listened through the entire track multiple times just to make sure everything was in order and I was very happy with the results. It's such a fun track to listen to, too. I am aware there is still some drop-off in this piece but it's very slight so you may not even notice.

Anyway, hope that answered your question.

In some cases it isnt that bad and won't be noticed by the listener. IMO inception was quite ok. A few tracks such as 'welcome home mr Cobb' had lower volume level than other tracks. This was something I just done myself via iTunes as when highering volume levels you end up with unwanted grain and that is something I hate when using headphones. However in this case Sherlock Holmes NEEDED this treatment and it is a very welcome improvement.

The Inception set sounds very much like real sessions to me. An expert around here can probably tell you.

No, Inception sessions and Cody's set (edit) were from the original sessions, unlike Sherlock holmes is not a real sessions (we do not know the source an i think it is an isolated score) and Cody's edit for SH make it a better thing !

Regarding "isolated score", I don't recall any DVD/BD in any region having an isolated score.
So I think all of you spouting "isolated score" have strong misconceptions.

Unless its from a special promo DVD/BD that isn't for commercial release.

Yes for both! and you need to check them Sparktank, and you will see the final mixes and the raise of the music volume up and down in tracks Race to Ritual and Save Irene pt2..

The so-called "recording sessions" weren't exactly that. It was, for all intents and purposes, mostly complete, the most complete version. I never realized that I had so many versions on my hard drive and a quick skim through them all produced higher quality versions for several tracks. However, since the "recording sessions" bootleg is the only set which features all the previously missing cues, I needed to level the tracks out against the new source to make the highest quality set currently available. This album is much longer than my previous one and includes a couple of alternates and two suites. It's 37 tracks and runs 1:46:58. Enjoy!

The only cue that required manual leveling to counteract against the film mix's rises and drops was Saving Irene Pt. 2. It now sounds much more consistent with the rest of the album. It may not be perfect but it works for me.
