I'm sure there are some of those games that you spent your hard earned money on, and it turns out to be terrible or not what you expected it to be.

Super Paper Mario - after playing the first 2 games... meh. It had no battle system at all. It's basically like SMB with Paper Mario graphics. Sticker Star is slightly better but not by much. I could try to finish it someday since I can't ever not finish a Mario game. Thank the power stars I bought the Nintendo Selects $20 version instead of paying $50 full price...

Metroid: Other M - The biggest problem I had is Samus' voice acting. Just... no. As much as I love the Metroid series I couldn't get into this one. Please don't ever have Samus talk again. She was always silent and kept to herself in previous games.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 - It's basically exactly the same game as NSMBWii with the raccoon suit and the gold fire flower. I do like NSMBU though. It was kind of silly to release both of these games in the same year.

Resident Evil 6 - While it is no doubt better than 5, it's just way too much action for my classic Resident Evil taste. I do like Resident Evil 4 and the Chronicles games, but that's as far as I'll go.

The Sims 3 - The graphics and the ability to place things diagonally (without a cheat code) is nice, but the main thing I don't like is that you can't add your own music like the previous games. There is 1 custom radio station, but it's obviously way better to actually put music in ALL modes and stations. I also bought the pets expansion at the same time, so double whammy for me.

I'll come up with more if I can...

Based on the games I currently own...

999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors - Despite being a cult hit, I had a hard time playing through this more than once for the multiple endings as there are long dialogue scenes. I played through it twice and haven't picked it back up again.

Crime Scene - I love the adventure/mystery type games and while certain crime scene investigation type games are decent (like the CSI series) this one was shit. So difficult to get through one investigation as the screen sensitivity is completely off.

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings - I bought this cheap ($10) but I still regret it. Battle mode is too easy and the minigame/puzzles are frustrating and out of place, leaving an uneven experience.

The Legendary Starfy - Bought this platformer based on a decent Nintendo Power review but it's really meant more for children. There is little depth or challenge to the gameplay.

Unsolved Crimes - Too easy and visuals are nothing special. I usually end up figuring out the perp very early on in each investigation.

Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness - What a waste of a game, money, and time. The controls and movements were so terrible that I couldn't stand to play it more than an hour and then I just gave it up.

I know there's more, but this is the one that jumps immediately to mind.

Sonic: Advance, Advance 3, Rush, Rush Advenure and the Secret Rings

To me, Sonic is a copy of everything: Mario, Mega Man and other game series. I didn't want to believe it but now I know it's true :P

I do enough research into my games that I never get I game I don't regret buying. Mass effect 3 however...was a quick buy...

Metroid: Other M She was always silent and kept to herself in previous games.

theres a reason for that: she never had enyone to talk to in previous games.
im a metroid fan (not fanboy) and i still liked to see samus be HUMAN, not a t-1000.
the games gameplay is, undeniably, great and thats why i liked it.

a game i regrest buying? though one, i dont usually buy games on the fly without knowing something about it (from this gen. games from, say, pre-NES gens, i do buy on the fly if they are CIB.)

oh, i know, my only regret ever: turning point fall of liberty.
i saw the ads, and i immediately though "nazis invading the US? *ORGASM*. and i never checked anything about it.
then i bought, and after playing the first level, i was so pissed off.

True... I guess I could give it another shot sometime. It could possibly turn out that I would like it, even if the "fanboy" in me isn't too fond of Samus' voice acting.

If anybody, and I mean ANYBODY, did it other than team-fucking-ninja, It would have been better.

Even if Nintendo was like "Welp! Here ya go EA! Don't bang her!" and they were all like "LOLOKAY *sinister smile*".
