Can anyone tell me about it, i'vce watched 2 episodes and it looked cool, but i'm wondering whether to track it down adn get the series.

Definitely pick up Last Exile. It's fantastic.

I've heard good things about Full Metal Alchemist, but I have'n't actually seen it myself.

Full Metal Alchemist is also another great anime and if you like stories that gets darker and darker as it progresses like Trigun, this should be fine.
