I'm excited for the film itself. I don't give a shit about the score yet and won't until I hear it within the film.

As for not understanding the excitement, it's Zimmer. That's more than enough for most....certainly not me, and not you, but most.

I would be excited if in fact Zimmer had an understanding of music composition, it's like he's just a music producer these days.

Just read up on the Deluxe edition as I'm interested in purchasing it.

Ok. So here is a question then. It is being said that a Williams style score is too "old fashioned" for a modern Superman movie? I want to know then, if the extensive use of the Williams Superman fanfares was successful in Superman Returns, and in various sections of Smallville. I am not liking the score overall for Returns. But, did the fanfare work for that or not?

I don't like the Ottman score for Returns either. Williams is still alive and active, dammit, if you want a score "that sounds like Williams", well hire Williams !
Same thing for "Predators", why the exec didn't hire Silvestri rather than letting Debney write a ripoff of his "Predator" scores ?

As for the fanfare, well, it IS the music of Superman in my mind, but I wouldn't mind going with something fresh for Man of Steel. So, I'm curious to hear what Zimmer did pull off about that.
Since, as I understood, this new movie is NOT related to the original franchise, unlike Returns, as it is more a reboot (a new 'Origin' movie and all that), I think it's good if it doesn't rely on anything close to the first movies, beginning with the oh so famous and iconic music.

The only song I liked was the Trailer #3 music, and even that isn't very impressive.

The movie is yet to be released and i am pretty much excited about it. Last one featuring Brendon Routh did a mind blowing job in that movie and was extremely nice. Let's see how this movie goes and whether it creates a bang on the box office or not.

Was anyone able to pick up the Target exclusive red edition of this score? Apparently it isn't carried in stores anymore and it is sold on Amazon for $40! I'm just wondering if the only difference is the red color.

Amazon had a boxset with the movie on BD/DVD and the OST in collectible red tin.
I looked at the details and saw nothing new on it.

I was kind of bummed when they threw in the bundle last minute.

I already had the grey tin OST in my house and the 3D-BD bundle pre-ordered.

Looks like people are trying to resell the red version on Amazon for a profit.

5 different OST's? Wow. ;) I have not purchased it yet, but soon, an it will be online.

The Red one is definitely better than the Grey. I wish it was announced before hand, but that's WB for you. So I gave the Grey one to my cousin and bought the Red one brand new.
