*Man I'm so evil...*
As you can see, this poll limits you on your choices of your favorite Final Fantasy game. I've done this because these games have been overshadowed by other games (Final Fantasy 4, 6, 7-X). This will really determine the "REAL" best Final Fantasy game because we'll see if any one of these can win under the condition of being less known or less liked by the general public. Unlike 4, 6, 7-X which tend to get high votes anyways.
OH and in case you want to know more about these games (this is being directed to the fans of FF7-X here), I'll briefly go through these games.
Final Fantasy 2: This game is the very first FF game to really have any sort of plot. You, along with 3 others, escape from your home town which was being attacked. Because of this, you and your group get attacked and injured. When you awaken, you find that only 2 of your original group is with you. You want to help support the empire and revenge your home town... but where is the last member? This game is rather unique in how you level up your stats as the game does not go by experience points. Instead, depending on how often you attack, get hit, etc will determine your stats. An example would be that as you keep using Swords, you are able to strike multiple times with a sword.
Final Fantasy 3: This, unfortunately, was never released out in the US. However, you can pick this game up on an emulator and play it. The default rank for FFS is "Onion Kid," this rank originated from Final Fantasy 3. In this game, 4 kids end up saving the world with the power of the crystals. This game introduced the famous Job system that is present in FF5, FFT, and FFX-2.
Final Fantasy 5: Originally going to be released in the US as "Final Fantasy Extreme" for it's difficuilty, this game introduced another system, the Ability System. For the first time in an FF game, you are able to use the ability of a different class. Monks can cast white magic, White Mages can blow enemies with Fire and so on. As for the plot, it is rather low on story. Gameplay, however, makes up for it and becomes a really long adventure that will keep you hooked, even though it's not quite clear why you're doing what you're doing... maybe it's because the hero has the hots for the girl!
Final Fantasy X-2: A sequel to Final Fantasy X. Having a completely different system from Final Fantasy X, this breaths new life into Final Fantasy as it is more of a lighter side of Final Fantasy. Many will look down on the fact that the game is really pushing things into the corny side but if you look beyond that, you'll find a solid game with a great story that fills in many questions that were left open from Final Fantasy X. Highly recommended if you have played FFX and want to get to the bottom of what happens in the end.
Final Fantasy Tactics: A very unique Final Fantasy title that is about tactical strategy battles instead of normal turn-based or ATB battles. The story of this game is SO well done that you'll be enjoying this game of the story. The gameplay is also memorable as you raise an army of soldiers to discover the truth of an old story. You will find that Cloud and Aeris make an appearance in this game and you can recruit Cloud to your team as well! The deep structure of the story will keep any Final Fantasy Story Fan hooked and with so many things to customise, it is clearly a sidegame that is worth to be titled "Final Fantasy."
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance: Being the little brother version of Final Fantasy Tactics, this game is more in tone for those who like a little lighter on gameplay but like to maintain the many vast things that make tactics a great game. This is a very different tone from Final Fantasy Tactics as it is more aimed for the younger audience. However, even with the aim for the younger group, anyone can enjoy the game and it's many features. The new Law System is introduced, restricting you from doing certain things, but on the flipside, the opponent will also be restricted. A great game for the GBA and highly recommended for those who enjoy tactical games on the go.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: This game focuses a lot of teamwork and gameplay over storyline. While there is a plot, there is no character development because you create your own character. While this is not of the same calibur of a Final Fantasy game, you will enjoy this game with a group of friends. The downside of it all is that each player much have their own Gameboy Advance system. A lot of people do not have problems with this but those people who find it hard to find friends that can afford one can be at a lost. Recommended if you have friends with GBAs, it's also for good single player as well.
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest: Otherwise known as "Final Fantasy USA." This Final Fantasy game is really supposed to be released before Final Fantasy 4 (u2) came out. Unfortunately, this game is extremely easy but features some good fun moments. Very different from other Final Fantasies and with a simple plot and very easy enemies, this is really just a few hours run through. The Final Boss of this game can be defeated by throwing a potion at him... interesting ne?
