So, I decided to make the Tumblr blog fuckyeahfilminstrumentals (http://fuckyeahfilminstrumentals.tumblr.com/), and hear me out before you yell at me.

Whenever I make something like this on the internet, it's because it's something I want to see. Take, for instance, my YouTube account Disney Ashman Demos. My senior year of high school, I discovered song demos, and specifically, Howard Ashman's demos. I loved them, but there wasn't an easy way, or even a place (like YouTube) for me to listen to them. Even the ones that were officially released. So, I started collecting them, downloading what I could, and buying / trading what I could, just so I could upload them to YouTube and share them with his other fans. I made something I wanted to exist in the world.

Film orchestrations, especially for musicals, are something I love. I just love hearing how they're arranged, and I hate it when I get a DVD of a musical with an "isolated score," and the songs have vocals. (Just as a side note, I would DIE to get my hands on an isolated score to "The Producers.) They're a joy to listen too, and I love them, but, again, there was no easy way to listen to them. Which is why I joined this site. It's why I'm learning how to do it myself and practicing (Liza With a Z!, coming soon). It's why I'm thinking about buying a Blu-Ray drive for my computer, something I can't really afford right now.

Now, I decided to create this Tumblr to share some of the stuff I've found on this site. I decided to focus on musicals so I could have a focus and not just start uploading everything. Also, I chose Tumblr because it's harder to rip and download stuff from Tumblr than it is on YouTube. And, more importantly, I won't be uploading everything relating to a certain film / show.

Take, for instance, scorehunter66's score to Les Miserables. (Don't worry. I posted "I Dreamed a Dream" just because it's popular and I thought it would generate interest. I'm not planning on posting anything else Les Mis related right now.) If they would upload the entire score tomorrow, and they include every single note, I'm not posting every single moments. I would upload just the major songs, like "Who Am I?," "I Dreamed a Dream," "Master of the House," "One Day More," etc, etc, and so forth, and leave the incidental score (the end credits suite) and lesser songs ("Fantine's Arrest," "Beggars at the Feast," "The Robbery") out. I'll also probably be editing things, for one reason or another, posting it in 128 / 192, and will not be giving out download links. (And I'm a stickler for crediting people, so I'll also be posting a link to the source, whether it's to here or somewhere else.)

Currently, I'm planning on posting the "Approved Final Mixes" / instrumentals to Sweeney Todd, the score to Pinocchio, the rehearsal score to Little Shop of Horrors musical, and the instrumentals to The Little Mermaid.

If you ever see that I uploaded something of yours, and you'd like it taken down, just message me on here or on the Tumblr and just say "Hey, could you take that down?" I have no problem with it, and I would be happy to do so.
