If you can't spell impossible right the first time, don't try the second time. :(

Genetic engineering, perhaps?

There was no mention on how Red's species reproduce... Maybe he's like a single celled organism and he reproduces asexually. Can you imagine that? One second you're asleep minding your own business and the next one you're awake with two offspring next to you? Must've been freaky.

Of course there's always the possibility that Red was the last of his species as defender of Cosmo Canyon. And that there were others roaming the world who learnt of his actions during the fight versus Sephiroth and moved to join him at Cosmo Canyon.

And of course, the planet itself may have rewarded Red for his help during the battle versus Jenova and Sephiroth by injecting lifestream (that's the word I'm looking for) into creating him a mate just so he does not feel lonely, and so the species can flourish.

:) There. Three possibilities.

Even old man Bugenhagen told RedXIII that there are mates for him around the world.

Maybe it will tell us in FF:AC hopefully seeing as Red XIII is the coolest FF character ever!

Well, at the end it says that it's like 1000 years later or something. I don't think AC will explain it, because it is only 2 years after.

Hojo tried to mate Red xiii with Aeris to produce offspring that could survive a long time, so it might be possible he can breed with other species, including humans.

Maybe in FF:AC it shows Red XIII with a lady friend of the same species that he met and then 997 years later they decide to mate and then when it says 1000 years later when he has two children that are 2 years old? maybe.
Possibly Square put that in purposely to show that Red XIII was not the last of his species.

Maybe the older one isn't even RedXIII at all. Because he is 48 and that translates into like 16 in human years (according to Bugenhagen) because 48 divided by 16 is 3 and 1/3 of 1000 is 333.333.......and that is a long time to live so maybe the smaller ones are his Grandkids.

Wasn't it... 400 years later? I don't think it matters much, but you obviously want to interprete the ending focusing on this number, so... hm.

I think the whole point of the last scene was to demonstrate that the planet finally won... You know, it reclaimed the place where the whole lifestream was being drained from. The planet grew over the remains of Midgar to show the humans "I have control again, and you are not going to abuse me any longer."

*Shrugs* Read into it what you will.

Actually, it is Red XIII at the end of FFVII. You can see the 'XIII' tatoo on his arm.

How can you say that, it says that his species lives for 700 years+

...or something like that.
Anyway, it is Red XIII in the end sequence, it's 500 years in the future, not 400 or 1000 and those are his children.

For confirmation of this, check my above post, where it says that you can see the 'XIII' tatoo on his arm.

Firstly, Buganhagen is not a human, he has no legs and floats, he is just another sub species.

Buganhage is Red XIII grandfather which shows that Red XIII species can cross breed and look exactly the same, this is how Red gets kids that looks like him, he probably found a girl somewhere (maybe Yuffie ;)).

If you lot are going to post things like this, make sure you think about the facts first...

Red Xlll's speicies could be able to reproduce A sexualy. which means with out needing a mate

This ending isnt impossible. I don't think those are his two kids anyway. I think Red XIII found another of his species somewhere in the world and they mated. Then the whole species continued to grow and grow. So those two little ones could be his great, great, great grand-children, maybe.

How dus Hojo know that red is the last in his species? He might not b? So Red found a mate, and produced cubs, that seems the most logical reason

BTW the man in the white cape in the AC trailer is sephiroth, soz 4 changin da subject
